凱爾特皇家酒店(The Celtic Royal Hotel)

The hotel is ok if you book it for 3 people or less. I booked it for my family of 4 and the description on the booking site was different from what I had. Description on Trip.com clearly mentioned that I will have 1 double bed and 2 single beds, but 1 single bed finally changed to a sofa bed. I did discuss it with the concierge, and she said the hotel policy can arrange a sofa bed if 3 bed’s bedrooms are full. I did check again, I really didn’t find it on policy page and also room description. Lastly, the sofa bed, I actually don’t think it is a sofa bed. The sofa cannot be extended. The arm of the sofa and the back of the sofa are still there.

Good Spot, lovely view, fantastic people. Swimming pool was good fun too.

Lovely hotel, the location of the hotel isn’t far from most attractions. A perfect destination for tourist visiting the North.

After I arrived at the hotel after a 5.5 hrs hour's drive from Bristol and before going out in the evening I went to bed for a couple of hours of sleep - I was awoken after a short period of time because of drilling going on in the premises - was told by the person in reception that drilling works was going on for another 2 hours and thus apart from being woken up I could not go back to sleep until 0830pm. This meant my stay at the hotel was not what i expected. Tony Hooper

Both the Pool and Gym were closed, but as this was booked quickly for a business trip, this was not clear enough. The receptionist was also obviously fed up of telling people this as her demeanour and attitude were very off putting. As those services were closed the hotel was grossly overpriced for quality recieved. The room was sweltering on entry, and there was hair stuck to the wall in the shower. Power points are not available next to the beds. The decor is old and outdated. The food was fairly bland, although restaurant staff relatively attentive and very polite.

We were really disappointed that we couldnt chec in until 4pm which seems excessively late in the day as check out is 11am. It meant that we didn't have time to use the pool which was one of the reasons for booking! Our room on the first floor was unbearably hot, there is no a/c which i get, but no fan or any other way of cooling down. I was tempted in the early hours to go and sleep in the car instead it was awful. In addition we had to endure really loud music from a wedding at the hotel until very late. We had to be up early Sunday morning for an appointment so really with the heat and noise had hardly any sleep. I think customers should be made aware if there is a potentially noisy function at the hotel that may impact their stay so a decision can be taken whether to book or not! After all, it was made very clear if my dogs barked and disturbed other guests we would be charged an additional £50! We thought the decor in the public areas was good, breakfast was nice, and overall the hotel was pleasant, good sized room and doggy beds and bowls provided. Would not return unless the check in time is more reasonable and the rooms have a/c or fans at least!

While this hotel met our needs cost wise there are a few things that surprised us. We could not get on the internet. There were 4 of us in our party in 2 rooms at different ends of the bulding and no one had internet x 2 days. I attempted to address this with the front desk and was patronizingly told by a male staff member several times "madam, my phone is working." The other incident had to do with the all the doors in our wing which were scratched extensively which made the hall shabby. When I curiously asked if a renovation was going on the young female staff member looked stricken and said she knew nothing about the problem. It was just weird that front desk staff wouldn't know if an entire wing of doors had been damaged. Other than a tiny safe ( couldn't stow your laptop) and no iron or ironing board the room was adequate and clean.
