Greeted by a very hospitable, friendly and caring team! Breath taking view of the mountains, delicious food! This lodge is really a must for nature lovers. About 15-20mins walk to Nam Dong Park. Please do read up more about the lodge before booking! I had a wonderful experience here!

The grounds are beautiful and well kept. It was a shame it was too cold to swim there is a nice pool. But they do have a steam bath. The food is good, the service is fine. The mountain road leading to the resort is not good and very bumpy, our taxi driver wanted to abandon us because he refused to go further. Luckily the staff sent their driver to pick us for a fee. There is not much to do around once u are up there. It’s the perfect place to relax and unwind, but with our 3 year old, 2 days was enough for us.

We loved our stay here. One sentence to summarize this place: you are exposed to nature with comfort! Thanks Alune for your hospitality.

Beautiful eco-lodge up in the mountains. Perfect for a few days rest away from the city or to get over jet lag, but also possible to hike in the mountains. The owner was an excellent host, helpful and a font of knowledge on Laos. The menu is local and includes vegan options. The swimming pool and wider area is stunning all day. Anyone visiting Luang Prabang for the first time should spend a night or two here, as well as a night in the old town centre.

Wir haben uns für 5 Tage gleich zu Beginn unserer Reise dort eingebucht, es war die richtige Entscheidung zum ankommen und akklimatisieren. - Küche von 8 - 8 Uhr geöffnet, - Wasser und Tee standen frei zur Verfügung, - der schön gelegene Swimmingpool ist super erfrischend - Bungalow wunderschön gelegen, schlicht eingerichtet - es ist gut, dass man sowohl zum Frühstück als auch bei Lunch und Dinner von der Karte bestellt (kein Buffet = kein Überfluss und keine Reste) Danke Khan für deine gute Betreuung und Holger, dir gute Besserung! Hillside was an amazing place of rest and retreat. They will pick you up from Luang Prabang town and it’s only about 40mins away but feels like a secluded retreat far from town. The staff looked after every detail, and made our stay very enjoyable. The setting is beautiful and flexible; you can choose to “do nothing” and sit by the pool, get a massage, enjoy the steam bath, or be active and enjoy the many hikes (guided or unguided) of differing levels in the beautiful Lao countryside. There is also a national park nearby, which seemed in a bit of disarray but was still a pleasant walk and only cost about one USD to enter. If there is one tiny negative, the bed and pillows are a bit firm for my preference but are standard for what you’ll find in Asia. Overall, I loved Hillside and would go back in a second. Don’t hesitate to make your booking today!

We stayed at Hillside for 6 nights and it was an amazing experience. Being out of season, 4 of those nights we were the only people staying which made it feel like our own exclusive and private paradise. Holgar, Aloun and Oscar made our stay so comfortable and relaxing - it was like a home away from home. Many evenings we would sit at the bar with them chatting, learning about their story, the local area and what’s generally happening across the country. It was like being with friends. The food was superb and the choice plentiful. Before we got to Hillside we were in Thailand where our son got very unwell and lost a fair bit of weight. He ate like a horse at Hillside so thankfully, by the end of our stay he had regained full strength. To say the setting is like paradise is not an exaggeration. You’re totally surrounded by nature - it’s 360 degree jungle and mountains. In fact, it’s all so pure that it doesn’t look real. Everything was well maintained and spotlessly clean. We did a few excursions while we were there. We went to Nahm Dong Park which is a 15 minute walk from Hillside. We didn’t have enough Lao Kip with us so Holgar settled our bill from the park and we paid him. Holgar also arranged for us to have a guide take us out for a day to Kuang Si Falls and a few other places. One evening, Oscar (Holgar and Aloun’s 10yr old son) and Buddy (their aging dog) took us for hike up to a viewpoint and then back through a village. All of these are great little touches that really added to our stay. Overall, we can’t fault anything and we are extremely grateful to Holgar, Aloun and Oscar for making us feel so welcome and looking after us impeccably well. We can wholeheartedly recommend staying at Hillside.
