漢密爾頓精選海濱旅館(Hamilton Inn Select Beachfront)

Upon arrival we were greeted with smiles and laughter, The front desk ladies were all very polite and so helpful, The hotel was clean and the hotel staff everywhere you went spoke and smiled, The bedroom was clean and the beds are comfortable, We would definitely stay again.

One small elevator way far away from our room in this ultra-long motel. Breakfast was awful. The room wasn't big enough. There were two round chafing dishes and one long rectangular one--the first round one had pancakes, and the second one had--MORE pancakes. The entire rectangular dish had thin slices of ham submerged in a whole lot of ham water. And that was it for breakfast. We picked a hotel on the water so we could look out and see the lake, but we looked out on the parking lot. We might as well have been miles away. There just wasn't anything other than the staff who were polite to recommend this Inn. It wasn't Select and for us, it wasn't beachfront.

When we went to check in we had trouble understanding what the girl behind the counter was tell us. Well the other lady at the counter YELLED that she would be right with us. We we're trying to explain what we requested when we booked the rooms. I've never been treated so badly in my life. I asked to speak to a manager, and she said she was the manager. Then she said she felt threatened! We were 3 senior citizens doing a girls trip and it was ruined by the way we we're treated that day. We then googled the Hamilton Inn Select Beachfront. Well, the owner has more than 20 Hotels in Mackinaw City and is under investigation looking into customer complaints by Michigan Attorney General's Office. Their first problem they need to find workers that know how to treat customers when checking in. The room was okay, but needs a good cleaning around the base boards you could see the dust. We'll never stay there again. We should of just walked out after being treated the way we were. Ruined our trip.

Réservation was not specific. The room was on the parking lot when we’re at the shore of Lake Huron. To upgrade was an additional $100.00. The room was antiquated, dusty/dirty an noisy. An article that was read online said the Michigan AG was investigating the owners back a year ago which made me think twice about another location but, the article says the same owners own approximately 20 hotels in Mackinaw City. Sounds like a monopoly.

Check in was slow and it was difficult to understanding the staff and the information she was giving us. We had no ideas that there was a shuttle to the ferry as we ended up paying for parking. She could have told us during check in, but as I said we could not understand her and was getting very frustrated. We did witness another staff member get short and nasty to another customer when questions were being asked. We did ask for cleaning service each day, but that did not happen. The beds were uncomfortable. The entry into the room was very narrow and at times difficult to maneuver. This hotel is dated. The first night stepping into the shower I grabbed the hand bar and it came out of the wall and hit my face. It could have ended a lot worst. We talked to the front desk about what happened. At no time did anyone ask if I was ok. They just handed me some papers to fill out and I was told I had to call corporate as they could not discount our stay, they could only change our room. The second room, the beds were still very uncomfortable. We had to find a cleaning employee to get more toilet paper. There was a hair glob in the tub drain. We went down twice for their breakfast. Not good. They were out of what looked like canned fruit in a bowl, no bread, no batter for waffles, no decaf coffee and only a small amount of sugar type cereal. They did have a nice supply of ham, bagels and a handful of pancakes. It was not a very good experience with this hotel.

Our room had an extremely evident humidity control problem. Blatant black mold in the bathroom indicates this hotel does not provide a safe environment for their customers. Had they paid an ounce of attention upon inspecting/cleaning a room, this would have been seen. If you booked this hotel as a middle of the road option with breakfast, like we did, look elsewhere. We ended up skipping the ridiculously horrible continental breakfast (no eggs) and getting a real meal at a nearby diner. On a positive note, friendly staff and a warm pool. Cannot recommend this hotel to anyone based on our experience.

They didn’t have coffee available at all in the reception area and they said they serve a breakfast but after 8am every day that I was their they were already out of everything and didn’t try and put anything else back out and I don’t think this was by accident. They have a ton of old retired people there and can treat them any old way and get by with it
