厄齊沃特酒店(The Edgewater)

The hotel appeared nice but our room was disappointing. The carpet was stained and looked dirty.

If you’re on a lower floor (1-4), you’re in the basement levels of the building. They told me they fill these rooms last, and I understand why. These rooms are cave-like: dark, smaller than rooms on higher floors, and with very low ceilings. Even if you pay for a lakeshore view, know that you could be on the 11th floor (a spectacular view full of light and with a larger bathroom and double vanity, a table and armchairs) or on the 1st floor (where you have none of the above and your room opens up to a pier full of tourists and a sidewalk with frequent passersby, so that you feel you’re in a cage on display). The rooms cost the same amount but are not at all comparable. If you ask to be moved or tell the front desk staff the room is not what you expected or that you didn’t enjoy your stay, tough luck. Don’t expect any Midwestern customer service. They don’t care. In short, if you stay here, don’t pay extra for the view because you may not get that but you will get a hefty hotel bill.

I stayed at the Edgewater a few years ago my daughter goes to UW and it was great! This time it was not so good. They seem to be short staffed . First my room was in the other building and you have to take a tunnel from the main hotel or walk outside. My room was small over looking a frat house and it was noisy they were having parties. The spa is in that building and was excellent I had a facial. Someone had left there room service tray by the elevator and it was there for 2 days and was still there when I checked out on day 3. We went to Augies for something to eat and all the tables were not clean lots of used glasses and beer bottles. It was self serve no waiters. The bar tender said the bus boy sometimes is never to be found. My stay was disappointing for the price of the hotel. Hopefully they can get more staff.

We checked in and were told that the room was not ready. It was 230. She said that someone would call us. Okay we went and had a drink. An hour later no one called we went to Check in and the gentleman at the desk was very friendly and stated since we are gold members with ******* we are entitled to an upgrade and early check in. He was very accommodating. If we have waited for a call it would have never came. Bad 1st check in. Very disappointing. But the 2nd time was very good.

The hotel is old and run down. I was supposed to get an upgrade but was put in a dingy room on the 3 floor. The restaurant closes at 2pm and there were about 4 different groups that were looking for a place to eat. There is a sandwich place in the hotel that was supposed to be open but wasn’t.

Very beautiful place to stay. Very friendly staff. I do think some of the fee's are little to much. Specially self park fee and resort fee. I guess because its in a big city the hotel feels like they can have extra charges. Just have one price when people book your hotel. Thats my opinion.
