布得瑪施鄉村山林小屋(Budmarsh Country Lodge)

Budmarsh has been a favorite for many years however this last trip in August 2023 was a let down. They are still mentioning themselves as 5 star but are not even rated on the tourism grading council website. This is an actually illegal. The staff has been there for years which is good but even they are struggling to keep up with the deterioration of the place. No security guard at the gate, no porters on arrival, no welcome drinks at reception. Missing soap in the room. The list goes on. We told the GM Anica and she tried to convince us they are working on it but those glory days are gone. The wine cellar which was a winner for years is a shadow of its former glory with cheap wines being sold at a premium. Their food was very average serving food that you can get for R200 but charging R900. This was definitely our last trip, what a let down as we have supported Budmarsh for almost 10 years.

Good hotel but definitely not 5 star. I think it was graded 5 star many years ago and they are still riding on that title. It’s a very good 3 star hotel. Breakfast also not bad. Rooms beautiful and spacious we had one with an outside shower. Grounds well maintained and staff super friendly

I had the distinct privilege of staying this weekend past - along with someone very dear to me - at Budmarsh, and it truly did deliver the five-star experience. From the breathtaking beauty of the grounds, to friendly and efficient staff, I shall not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone looking for perfect accommodation in Magalies.

Friendly staff but not ideal for a couple stay celebrating a milestone. Little to no activities to do. Bring your own Wi-Fi router if you have it. Network is bad and we weren’t given access to Wi-Fi. Great as a bed and breakfast. Good size rooms and breakfast.

The service was excellent, and staff was very friendly. The food was excellent and very tasty. the dinner with the lamb shanks was very yummy and good. Accommodation was great. It was raining and was not much to do.

We chose the place from the photos. We were not disappointed. It is a very nice place, very green, and very peaceful. It gives the ability to really break from the daily rat race and crazy rhythm. For people with city cars, it's convenient that the off-road part to access the property is very short and not too damaged.

Lovely and tranquil place to relax and enjoy. Nice walk around the gardens with lots of trees for shade. Room very clean with large bathroom and a private jacuzzi just outside the room All the staff very helpful.

Great service, lovely peacefull gardens, plenty of birdlife, especially at the dam. The food was exceptional, huge portions. You definately dont go away hungry. Rooms excellent, especially the executive suites. Beautiful view over the garden

Our stay at Budmarsh was brilliant. From the warm and kind staff (especially Wongani and Felix), to the delicious multiple course dinners. My family and I will definitely be back when we need another break from the hustle and bustle of the city.
