耕地旅館(The Plough Inn)

We dined at a fantastic restaurant and a charming four star hotel called the Plough Hotel and Restaurant, located just down the road in Rhosmaen. It’s definitely a country hotel, but the food is very urban and wonderful. We were celebrating my hubby’s birthday and there were six of us in total. They sat us in the conservatory, which is much more relaxed than their main dining room. I can tell you the staff were lovely, but sadly, not the friendliest or the most knowledgeable of people. Ultimately, that didn’t matter as you come for the food, and it is extraordinarily delicious. We first started off my sharing several of the “light bite” plates, which included the salt and pepper fried squid, tempura battered cauliflower florets and coriander & chickpea falafel. Each one of them had wonderful little homemade sauces which we devoured. We then ordered several mains to share, which included slow cooked Welsh lamb, Welsh sirloin steak, roast Gressingham duck breast, citrus & herb crusted salmon and the chicken chasseur. The chef should be commended, as the food was absolutely wonderful and we finished it off with local Welsh wine a Glyndwr Dry and an Australian Euca Hill Shiraz. Truly a delightful birthday dinner. Make reservations, as they are busy.

It was great to return to the Plough and to be welcomed by its lovely staff and usual high standards. A beautifully prepared room with spectacular views of the lush surrounding countryside. Everything was spotless, and great to relax in after our journey. Great service and food as always and very welcoming staff. We will definitely be back and shall continue to recommend The Plough to friends.

We went to a Tom Jones Tribute night which was excellent, which included a delicious meal, which was well presented and delicious. The package included a night in one of their very comfortable rooms and a lovely breakfast. All the staff were very helpful and friendly, we will definitely be returning.

Wonderful service from the staff at The Plough. Attentive and professional. Even arranged for a surprise bunch of flowers to be placed in our room for my wife, splendid ! The room was clean, modern, and had a lovely countryside view. The food both at dinner and breakfast was sublime, with excellent presentation. Excellent all round 👏 👍

A clean, cosy, comfortable, well maintained hotel with lovely staff. Good food Lots to do nearby including Abergalsney Gardens and Newton House with five miles. We could have walked into Llandeilo , a small town with independent shops and a good choice of cafes

We had a wonderful night at The Plough for our Wedding Anniversary and we were made to feel really special. Fabulous room which was so comfortable - we were treated to an upgrade- and the food - as always - was amazing! Breakfast is cooked as you order and was outstanding! Stayed at the hotel over last weekend. Have to say this is an excellent hotel with really friendly and helpful staff. Room we had was really good . Restaurant food in evening and at breakfast was top notch. Will be back again for sure both for Sunday lunches and to see shows they put on.

We have stayed here before and will return again. Food is fabulous. The beds are comfy. Rooms are spacious and clean. Plenty to do locally. Lovely setting. Great staff. The hotel is about a mile out of town, walkable but there are taxi’s and the train station is also in town with infrequent services to swansea and shrewsbury

We stayed yet again in The Plough. We had Sunday Lunch which was as usual of very high standard. The room was very comfortable and our stay was very relaxing. Service in all areas was excellent. Would highly recommend a stay or a meal. Never disappoints
