馬爾格林葡萄園別墅酒店(Margrain Vineyard Villas)

Stayed in the garden room at the gatekeepers cottage at Margrain Winery, next to the cafe and cellar door. Lovely big room with a deck looking out at the garden and across to the vineyard. Check-in office is down the road at the Villas when the cellar door is shut.

Pleasantly surprised at the spacious room. Very comfortable. Had air con which was great in the heat. Continental breakfast (just let them know beforehand if need milk other than dairy) orange juice good selection of teas etc. lovely view to sit on balcony and drink wine of an evening. Nice having option of wine already in the room (good idea). Complimentary wine tasting at as far a the wines go my favourite vineyard. The only negative was the traffic noise was a bit louder than anticipated. Loved our stay and will be back.

Lovely villas with private balconies providing great vistas for a glass of wine or dinner. Nice touch having coffee, OJ and a continental breakfast in the room as well. Great location - just out of town but close enough to walk in for a coffee. We will be back.

The Vineyard King Suite is very comfortable and plenty of room. Comfortable bed, good size and well appointed kitchen. Bathroom good size, great bath and laundry facilities included. Good outdoor entertaining area and large table to fit 8+ guests. Suite is next door to the tasting room with complementary tasting and also the Vineyard Cafe - very nice lunch there.

Delightful setting. Bird song heard from our deck. Immaculate rooms, warm welcoming staff. Perfect get away from it all accommodation. Rooms are well appointed with a heat pump for chilly days. Comfortable couch to chill out on, watch TV or gaze out at the native bush and farm paddocks.

Gorgeous, quiet setting. The villas are a little dated now but no complaints; spotlessly serviced and walkable/bikeable from the village square. Perfectly located for a spot of wine tasting too! Friendly owners, cannot recommend highly enough!

The villas are tired and still living in the 80's. The bed was the most basic, old mattress with no comfort layer. No quality sleep was had during the stay. It was the most terrible bed I have ever experienced! Then we discovered (by having them land on us) we were sharing the space with a family of cockroaches! Plus the view from the deck was disappointing - large tress covered what could have been a view.

Martinborough is a fabulous location for a weekend away. The rooms were spacious and light. No food immediately on site. The decor was old-fashioned and very tired-looking, and cleaning and housekeeping were below par. There were literally dozens of flies dead and alive all over the carpet and cold bathroom floor and sink ( no romantic bubble baths unless you wanted to share with the dead flies) and I'm pretty sure I could hear vermin knawing in the ceiling at night, we won't be staying there again.

The rooms were clean and spacious. We appreciated the aircon in the 31degrees heat. The bed was comfy and loved the shady balcony-except the view was not over a vineyard as we were led to believe. There was no vineyard view from the unit until you opened the door to the driveway. Location is good-not too far from Martinborough and several wineries. For the price paid we expected more. The office staff were less than helpful making us wait some time before acknowledging our presence. At check out time we were really surprised to see the office didn't open until 10am so no-one was available to acknowledge our departure and receive any feed back that we had. Privacy was compromised by the large window in the lounge which required the blind to be pulled down. With no edge to the shower, water flowed out over the floor of the bathroom-a non-slip mat was offered but wasn't in the bathroom-on having the first shower didn't realize until too late the water flow problem. No extractor fan either. No effort put in to breakfast it was really basic - as we would expect from budget accommodation. However the drink selection was good - appreciated the variety of teas. The fridge was tiny and there was no way of heating any food. Expected more from a 'villa' and the price we paid. The terminology 'villa' suggests fully equipped similar to a motel unit, but they are basically poorly designed tin shed hotel rooms, with an attempt at some architectural features using cheap looking chip board.
