道森瀑布山旅館(Dawson Falls Mountain Lodge)

We had a relaxing stay at Dawson Falls Mountain Lodge. We went to Mt. Taranaki in summer for lovely easy walks. Convenient location for us. Friendly service. We had a delicious dinner at the restaurant on site, especially after the walk and we didn't need to worry to find food. Everything was well-prepared. We enjoyed the dinner. The view from our room was spectacular. I felt relaxing just enjoying beautiful the views of nature and lovely bird sounds. Highly recommend! Also thank you for special hospitality. Very unique in NZ!

Nice enough place, the people are genuinely lovely which is probably the saving grace. The lodge itself is fairly dated but clean and welcoming. The rooms were a good size and took a while to heat up, I ended up sleeping with the heating on, a sheet, duvet, and 2 blankets. I did have to go and ask for milk as the room had tea/coffee and a kettle but no milk. Guests cannot BYO food and alcohol - mores the pity. The food is really bad - I cannot stress enough how bad it is. I come from a family of incredible cooks and a brother in-law who was a chef so I have a high standard for food especially when you have to pay a la carte prices! I ordered the fish - don't do it. It was old, smelled fishy, over-cooked, and I threw it back up when I got back to my room. The rest of us ordered lamb (the jus was not jus - it was a very sweet gravy), the onion soup was more onions than soup. I would advise that you eat your main meals elsewhere. Again, the people are lovely and friendly, you can get a good night's sleep, and the coffee is good (a regular is $5.50 which way more expensive than a Wellington coffee!)

Beautiful location on the mountain, walk out the door and onto the trails. Quaint, rustic, comfortable, an open fire each night and delicious home cooking made for a relaxing stay. Dean and the staff really looked after us. A great two nights away.

So close to the mountain - it was majestic. Food was great and a very nice wine list. Coffee at breakfast was delicious.

Had 2 relaxing nights. Rustic, comfortable and easy access to the walking trails and the mountain. Excellent evening meals and the unusual open fire made the lounge warm and cozy. Woke to fantastic views of the snowy peaks. Dean and the staff really looked after us. Recommended.

One of the very places to stay with a young family in NZ. We live it, have stayed their 3 times & will keep going back... We love the accommodation, the stars at night were great & so was the service. We’ve also been with two families & everyone loved their stays. 👌🙏👌
