Valet Parking needs serious redesign. The parking garage is blocks away and that coupled with understaffing resulted in a 1 hour delay in getting my car returned during a slammed new years eve morning. Unloading my car was also problematic while attempting to maneuver a fully load baggage cart around the tightly parked cars left for the Valet to park. Again, the excessive distance to the parking garage and understaffing are the causes. Don't get me wrong, the staff were EXTREMELY NICE, CURIOUS, AND ATTEMPTING WORK WITHIN THE SYSTEM. I lay this problem at the feet of poor management.

This hotel was conveniently located to downtown (short 10 minute walk). Convenient pizza shop right next door. Lobby bar was great, wish it was open earlier. The staff was super helpful and amazing. However, the rooms are in need of updating. It seems like they are in the process of "trying" but seems like its been done cheaply. The construction was loud in the morning since the entrance to your room is outside, not like a typical hotel. Would stay here again for the price and convenience of location.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The hotel receptionist was so friendly and helpful, she gave us a really good first impression of the place. It’s about a 10 min walk to broadway, but theres plenty of uber’s or ride shares around that come right to the hotel for you. (We were like “oh we’ll walk to broadway every day!” And let me tell you the walk there is fine, but the walk back is all uphill so i would recommend getting an uber back unless your into working out- which i am not lol) The breakfast is actually really good! I was impressed. The *only* bad thing about this hotel is that (obviously) its right near capital hill and theres a random bird like sounding alarm throughout any hours, sometimes theres loud cars on the road (for those 2 things, just bring earplugs and it was fine), and the water pressure is slightly low. So if you’re used to a nice hard water pressure you may be a little disappointed. The only other thing i can mention is that the bathroom door is a pocket door, and theres not a separate door between the toilet/shower area and sink/mirror/get ready area behind the pocket door. So its not the most private bathroom… but if your traveling with someone your familiar with, then its not a big deal. The beds are not uncomfortable, they aren't the best hotel beds I've ever slept on… but they aren't horrible. I would recommend people to stay here.

I pulled up to the checking in at the front door. The lobby looked like a bus stop and everytime the front door opened you could smell smoke. Despite having paid in advance, I chose not to stay there. Not at all what I expected. Looked run down and dirty with homeless people right outside.

The room doors are outside, like a motel. Dirty, trash in corners, staff around outside but not taking care of it. Elevator is outside to the rooms, unsafe. Dirty, old building. The “free” breakfast is ordered an a piece of paper, then packaged up in a styrofoam container. Very limited options. Coffee and water are free, all other beverages for breakfast are $4 each. Staff was pleasant. Would not stay here again.

The rooms all have a balcony overlooking the open parking garage. The elevator is located in the parking garage so basically anyone can walk into the elevator and be outside a room without being seen by or interacting with hotel staff. That felt unsafe. There was a bar with people hanging out both in the bar, the lobby and in the parking garage close to the elevator almost all of the time. That felt unsafe. One day I had to bring the staff's attention to the fact that someone was passed out lying across the bar. The food was terrible-we had wings and chicken tenders. We were there 4 nights and had to ask for housekeeping 3 of those days when no one had arrived by late afternoon. Then we had to stand outside while they cleaned when we really wanted to rest in our room.

I would never stay here again. It was a glorified motel. 90% of the rooms are accessed by an outdoor walkway like a motel. You had to go outside to get to the elevator, room was tiny, free breakfast was powdered eggs in a to-go container. Not even close to being worth it for $350 a night.

I am not one for leaving reviews, especially negative ones. When I found this hotel on *******, I was excited. An Ascend Hotel near Broadway during a busy weekend, what could be wrong. First, the pictures are totally deceiving giving the impression that the rooms were modern and spacious. Look at the pictures for yourself. They made sure to get the best angle. The lobby was a mess, the bar, lunch space and sitting area are all one large room and that's okay I guess. What's not okay is that is not a hotel, it is a MOTEL and should be advertised as such. The lady at reception was super nice and helpful and I sort of felt bad for her because she was the only working and taking care of everything from luggage to reservations to checking in. Again, quite deceiving on website from what it actually is. Not enough towels, dark and dingy corridors, unsafe stairs and not enough space in the room for four people. The worst part was the price. We paid $450 for a hotel that should cost no more than $150 per night at best. Ascend is a chain of upscale boutique hotels, this is not that. I would not stay here again ever.

Staff was friendly - excellent service from them. The property is outdated and there is little to no water pressure in showers/ sinks. Courtesy breakfast was very convenient. Overall , not a bad spot if you don’t intend to be in your room much.
