酒廊宜必思酒店(The Ibis Lounge)

This review is relatively objective being my 17th road trip encompassing 18 properties over a 43 night period. I stayed solo for one night in March. Easily found in this very laid back village with adjacent on street parking. I’ve stayed several times and as ever Barbara was a welcoming host. Doesn’t look much from the outside, but inside it’s a lovely blend of old school Karoo and modern touches. Comfortable, clean and well equipped bedroom. Decent shower pressure. The rooms are becoming slightly tired and in need of a light refresh, hence 4 rather than 5 stars. Small garden (in need of a little tlc) and pool. Very relaxing lounge area. The in house Stirlings restaurant has been extended to include an outside dining terrace - perfect when I stayed - as was the Karoo tasting menu I enjoyed. The restaurant was very popular with local trade, which tells its own story. Breakfast was well up to standard. Still highly recommended.

What a lovely place to stay. enjoyed the down to earth people and surroundings. Was defnitely one of our highlights touring the eastern and southren Cape. The town has this old, charming atmosphere, just what we needed, strolling late afternoon and enjoying the sunset.. Bliss

We really enjoyed our stay at The Ibis Lounge recently. Barbara was the perfect host, and the breakfasts were really good. The Ibis Lounge is the ideal base when visiting this exquisite village. Be sure to visit Stonefolks!

Barbara and Johan, our gracious hosts, ensured our stay was delightful. The Karoo Experience at their restaurant was exquisite, and we explored Nieu Betesda thoroughly—from the captivating Owl House to the intriguing Fossil House. The Donkey ride with Jacob added to our memorable weekend. Dinner at Evelyn’s House was a special treat.

What a lovely couple of nights. Barbara was the perfect hostess; very much “hands on”. Nothing was too much trouble. I would highly recommend The Ibis to anyone looking to stay in Nieu Bethesda. And make sure you try Barbara’s Karoo dining experience.

There is a difference between feeling welcomed and being welcomed; Barbara and the staff at The Ibis assures one of feeling good to having been welcomed. It’s no wonder it was our natural go-to return trip accommodation - kudos all around.

Ibis Lounge in Nieu-Bethesda is the perfect place to recharge your batteries. Barbara is an excellent chef & her fine dining Karoo Experience is a must. Loved the freshly baked herb bread with breakfast. Stroll through the town & drive around Compass Berg with a gravel road. You won't believe you are in the Karoo.

This is an establishment that knows all about hospitality. The hostess will attend to every possible issue to make your stay as comfortable and pleasant as possible. We shall stay right here, if the secret is not so widely shared that they're fully booked.

Pleasant welcome, and most helpful booking me a table at the nearby restaurant for supper. A lovely old feel to the house. Only slight problem: sound insulation. I heard every word of a phone call in the room next door.
