When I arrived to check in there was a sign on the door saying “sold out”. I walked in, happy that I had made a reservation earlier that day. As I approached the front desk the woman there glared at me and said “we’re full”. I said “I saw the sign. Glad I have a reservation!”
She said “You don’t have a reservation. We’re sold out”
“Yes, ma’am, I do”. Showed her my phone with the confirmation email
“That’s a third party website. If you’d booked direct we would never have given you that reservation and we wouldn’t have a problem now. You should try that next time. In the meantime you’ll have to work with them to find another room”
I left and did just that. ********** did call me, I warned them that she would be rude to them, and when they called me back they said I was right… she was rude to them as well. They found me a room a few miles away, problem solved.
I’m guessing that she had been having the same conversation all night, explaining how they had no vacancies. Maybe I wasn’t even the only one who got double booked that night. But I was 100% calm and polite even though exhausted and disappointed that I had to find a new room. She had no reason to treat me rudely.
