考卡酒店(Korakia Pensione)

I love this place and my husband and I really love going there for a break from the pressures of life. We did struggle with access to our room on this trip in that they were working on our patio digging up and planting new plants around the border of it. This work needs to be done sometime obviously to keep the grounds looking so beautiful but it did mean that the objective of 'rest' wasn't available for our unit for half our stay. A bit of communication around this work would have been helpful for planning.

While the concept of this place is great, it is a bit run down and needs updating. There are definitely some charming touches - each room is unique, they light candles/laterns every where on the property every night, they deliver coffee to your room every morning with a note and there are cool record players in your room (with a library of records to choose from). However, physically the rooms are run down - taking the rustic a little too far (although the bed/bedding was comfortable and nice) Our bathroom in the CasaBlanca room was super small and super basic - not premium at all. There is no bar or restaurant here. They do serve breakfast on the outdoor patio which is nice - there is a very limited pool-side menu - but not really sure where that food comes from. And you have to bring in your own alcohol. The wi-fi was also not working on the one side of the building. You would stay here for the rustic/European feel - but you cannot have Ritz/Four Seasons expectations.

Great place to stay! We only stayed one night, but we want to make a return trip sooner than later. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating from check in to check out. The grounds are well kept and have lots of areas to lounge and relax. It's a short walk to down town but you feel like you're miles away from anywhere when you're on the grounds.

First off let me say that Korakia Pensione has always been one of our favorite hotels. My first visit was in 1999 when they had fewer rooms. I and my husband have visited them throughout the years because of the unique experience offered. Its a Mediterranean/ Tangiers style experience in the heart of Southern California. It reminds of us of the years we spent living in Greece. It's appeal for us was its rustic rough around the edges vibe. The fact that it wasn't four or five star. The raw wood, the stone, the morroccan mint tea and cucumber water served throughout the day. It had more of a simple laid back vibe than the rest of Palm Springs. Would I say that Korakia has ever been a 4 or 5 star hotel? No. Although the beds are super comfy, many of the rooms are tiny and basic. The cushions and furniture are worn. Which is its charm. When the rooms were $300 and up depending on the season, that made sense, but now even off season the smallest rooms in the middle of August are close to $500 a night. Thats just outrageous and shows a real disconnect for us. So we no longer go. Which is heartbreaking. But we just cant justify that price for what you get. It seems lots of folks are saying the same thing. I hope they will lower their prices in the future. Maybe recouping money lost during Covid. But still. We will miss it. So sad.

A very quaint, chill place to wind down. Far enough away not to hear traffic etc but close enough to walk to town. Love the breakfasts and the little extras like night turn down service , fresh fruit skewers. Great European vibe, love the bungalows and the pool was great. Only complaint was the noise from the unit above. We were in the Atlas bungalow on bottom floor. Noise upstairs was sometimes unbearable. Next time we’ll stay in an upstairs unit or a bungalow with no upstairs unit. Very lovely time for 4 days!!

We absolutely adored this hotel, which made us feel like we were somewhere in the Meditteranean. The staff was so attentive and friendly and would add special and thoughtful touches such as chocolate covered strawberries delivered to our room. We splurged on the Marrakech suite, and it was so lovely and spacious! Truly transported us to another time and place, and great location up the stairs right by the pool but quiet. The pool is warm and open 24 hours!! So relaxing! The free breakfast is delicious, and coffee delivered right to your room. Beautiful location right near the majestic mountain, but a few easy blocks to downtown. Free and easy parking. There are some issues that I would like to mention, as hopefully they can be fixed: Instead of any real curtains or black out shades there is some thin white fabric barely covering the windows and there was a very bright light on the building which lit up our room at all hours. Also, there needs to be more outlets, we needed an extension cord to plug in our devices. Lastly, the cleaning products were strong and too perfumy for me, I suggest unscented. but honestly these are minor issues at a 5 star stay and we will return!

Loved staying at this unique property. Every nook and corner is charmingly decorated without being fussy. Really feels more European in style, so “pensione“ is an apt moniker. Lower your expectations when it comes to refined bathrooms but again the bohemian approach is all part of the charm. I also made use of the pool, which they keep extra warm — almost as warm as a hot tub— and you can swim anytime, even under the stars.
