先鋒汽車旅館(The Pioneer Motel)

The Pioneer Motel is an old motel that has been kept up very well. It is very clean and has no bugs.. While it is in an older area, we felt safe there. It had a microwave, a refrigerator and a little kitchenette area. If you stay here, walk across the street to the Big dipper ice cream shop. It is so good. We would definitely stay here again.

The lady at the front desk was very informative & friendly, and check-in was a breeze. The room was great: clean, super comfy beds, and roomy. It had blackout curtains which were a plus with the long Alaskan daylight hours. The only minor drawback was the light traffic noise as the motel is close to the road. Earplugs took care of that though. Overall I would definitely stay here again!

This is a clean and comfortable motel that is convenient to attractions in Palmer and Wasilla. Rooms were clean and sufficient for our family’s stay. The room got quite hot but I understand the property not having air conditioning since Alaska is hot such a short part of the year. We left the window open and used the provided box fan to provide relief. Great water pressure in the showers, though the shower heads are quite low. I’m 5’11 and my husband is 6’1 and the Warner was hitting us in the belly. Enjoyed the good sized fridge and the microwave. We bought a few groceries at Fred Meyer for breakfast and snacks. The table and chairs were put to good use! Staff was very friendly and helpful, but if you arrive before check-in time nobody will be around for early check in. So don’t show up early! :)

We had let them know we were going to be late getting in and they were fine with that. Waited up for when we arrived and was still very pleasant, told us what was still open so we could get something to eat. Actually stayed one night and then were back there two nights later for another stay. Both times were very pleasant to deal with.

I decided to spend the night in Palmer last minute at the end of a longer trip in Alaska and considering the very reasonable price of the room, and that the only rooms left were "dog-friendly", I wasn't expecting much. To my delight, I was in a room that was spotlessly clean - better than many high-end hotels I've stay in - and while there were no frills, the room boasted a little kitchenette with a larger-than-expected refrigerator. Both the kitchen and bath area shone. I would not hesitate to stay at the Pioneer Hotel again - a real gem in the heart of downtown Palmer.

A fantastic little motel to stay for short or long term. The staff were friendly and always caring. The rooms are greatly cared for and kept up. If you ever need a place to stay in this part of Alaska, this is the place to stay.

This is a renovated motel with historic value. Its very old but Its clean,comfortable and cozy. We really had everything we needed. It is NOT the Hilton or Marriott so keep that in mind. There is nothing like that in Palmer unless you go with resort level Air B&B's. We had booked a King Cabin which had changed to a double Queen Cabin from the time we made the advance booking and our arrival. We just went with the flow. Besides,our mattresses were new! The only real downside is that we detected a slight musty or mildew smell upon entering the room each time. It is summer so we opened up the windows when were in the room and enjoyed the fresh air coming in. I am pretty darn picky about accommodations and I would totally stay again!

The owner and her staff are very friendly. The motel is older but the room was homey and very clean. The only downfall is the street out front. It is very busy but i am pretty sure it is because the state fair is going on. Will stay again.

The room was super clean and tidy, a really nice spacious place to spend the night before heading up for walking on the Matanuska glacier. The manager Linda Rose was really nice and friendly! :)
