OK Folks once upon time this used to be one of the best hotels in Sri Lanka. That was decades ago, this is one of the very few Sri lankan government owned hotel today. This is not so luxurious to match a five star, but a pretty good hotel which fits in well for a three star. There are glitches here and there, it's an old building, you might find the hot water not working or a broken switch, pardon that, the hotel is working very hard to fix those with the little financial resources they have. The staff of the hotel are very kind and hard working. If you request them for something, they will not hesitate to try there best to satisfy your needs. The hotel has undergone a renovation recently and working hard to maintain a good menu of food. Again people are good and hard working but with the financial resources they have, there are limitations. Overall its a good 3 star hotel with a decent menu of food and really polite people. Help them by reserving your rooms with this little place which has a big history, the more guest who visit this place, the more money they get, so they can serve you better the next time your arrive. Be kind when making your reviews, try to look through the eyes of good people here who are trying to make your stay the best ever. Let encourage more people to use thus hotel so they can soon start to cater you with five star perfection.
The experience has been sublime. Beyond expectations. Incredible service. From the room staff: Ruwan, Chanika, Menuka. And from the oyster bar : Kushan was so helpful and all of them went out of their way in helping us. We never felt more comfortable. The food was delicious. We tried all the restaurants. And the brunch was perfection with so many varieties from different nationalities. The location was wonderful. Right on the Indian Ocean and the spaciousness of the rooms was so lovely, felt very luxurious.
As a practice I usually speak to several staff when I visit somewhere before making a genuine comment for the improvement of that organization. Seeing so many sad faces in this happy place, I deeply thought many times whether to write on this or not. Taking care of External Customers is a good thing as long as Internal Customers (your employees) also feel fairly treated. “Clients do not come first. Employees do. If you take care of your employees, naturally they will take good care of the clients.” Your staff doesn't look to be happy and as customers we can feel those things also. Note to management!
My experience with the hotel is excellent. Very respectful environment. Morning buffet had variety of choices and worth for what I paid. Room was very clean and served with all sort of accessories to stay. I had a head and neck massage at hotel spa which was an unforgettable experience. Damayanthy, the therapist with more than 15 years experience (dedicated and passionate) gave a nice massage for my painful neck. Overall very good experience staying in the hotel.

Our last day in Sri Lanka and we thought it would be a waste of precious time to stay in a hotel all day !! Absolutely not ! From our welcome, attentive and informative staff, Kapila was particularly brilliant as he helped navigate through a superior menu which included the best Cerviche we've ever eaten, so again at lunch it was ! A wonderful Spa experience followed by a stroll round the gardens, up through the veggie garden and met the three long eared goats Garden and interior design, plus interesting artwork, was a visual delight.
