The owners have spent money on the hotel to improve the look and appeal, although despite this there are several things that let it down. We booked a Superior sea-view room and on arrival (our room was not ready as we were early) we were informed that, our room would be on the second floor. We were then placed on the fourth floor and were assured that it was a Superior Sea-view room. The room was tastefully decorated, but a little tired with a partial sea-view - large tree obscuring the sea and with a small bathroom. First night; beds and pillows very uncomfortable, needless to say we didn’t have any good nights sleep for the week we were there (requested pillow exchanges which didn’t help). The room was very hot, twice we reported that the AC wasn’t cooling and asked for a fan which didn’t appear. Housekeeping didn’t refill the fridge with water, nor replenish teas/coffee’s. We asked several times for more water and wondered if they were chargeable? On checking with reception, we were assured they were complimentary - after this our fridge was restocked everyday. Bathroom exchange bidet and face clothes -took them away and didn’t leave replacements). With all our negatives, the location was perfect and staff where friendly.

I'll start with the positive. The hotel grounds are beautiful. It has a lot of potential. The drinks have a good selection and the pool staff are always around providing drinks.. We booked the hotel for a babymoon a last min trip for 6 nights. We arrived on Monday was allowed to use the facilities from the moment we arrived including food and drinks. We got to our room after three and whilst it appeared lovely on initial view it wasn't. We had blood on the floor from where someone had cut their foot on a door stopper blood on the under bedsheets. Ants in our room and the sink hadn't been cleaned. We called down and it took someone 2 hours to come and sort this out.. The buffet food is the worst I have ever experienced. Is say this is an upgraded child's menu nothing fancier then that. Mostly cold and the cereal was stale. Thankfully you can book into the Italian resturant and steak House which is what we did for every evening that was slightly better just more options would have been preferable.. however this is more edible then the buffet. They have a snack back for lunch time in addition to the buffet. 3 times the ice cream self service was broken and the ice cream was slushy. The bbq area was however nice. Food again needed improvement but I have learnt this is not really their thing. The pool... don't I booked this hotel mainly as it said heated pool.....no no it's not. Its not heated at all. The manager said that there was a broken component.... Well that's been broken for the entire time we were here. It was such a shame.alas you could get in the pool which was cold but once your in your in..don't expect that to be clean either. We haven't seen one person clean the pool or attempt to clean it.. I could deal with little stones and leaves and the flying bugs. But the woodlice looking things were my limit. I wouldn't even contemplate staying here again its a straight up no. It has SOOOOOOO MUCH POTENTIAL but the staff are overwhelmed and there is an obvious reluctance to put money into this to get it to a 5 star standard they are looking for. I'd suggest this is a 3 star resort maximum

Two thoughts on this review. The good and the very bad. The hotel and staff were very good. Hotel is modern looking and very comfortable. The included breakfast was exceptionaly good. The pool was nice and refreshing. It is not heated and it was fine to cool off from the hot weather we were experiencing. Lots of easy walking to local cafes and restaurents and beatuiful beaches. All in all a very good time there. Now the bad comment. Upon our late night arrival after 10pm (there was an unexpected detour required off of the Alfa Pendular High Speed Train, necessitating the use of a bus and then another train) then a last bus to get to the hotel, we were able to get checked in quickly with the efficient front desk staff. Alas, food availability was sparce, as most of the walking distance restaurents were closed or closing. Front desk staff stated that the hotel bar would be serving food until midnight. Sounded good. The four of us got ourselves a spot in the bar area and then proceeded to order some drinks and food. Simple enough, although it was quickly obvious that they were vastly understaffed and overwhelmed by the number of people who had just arrived. Whatever, we were not in a rush. Drinks took considerable time to arrive and the food took much longer. My 11 Euro cheeseburger was a joke. Cold bun with a thin slab of meat with an unmelted slice of processed cheese on top. My wife's cheeseburger was the same. Seems we did well. My travelling companion got his cheeseburger and the bun was grilled for some reason and the meat and cheese were burnt to a crisp. Photo included in this review to remove any doubts about food quality. When the burnt cheesburger was brought back to the server (bartender), it was met with just a shrug of the shoulders. No apology or offer of some form of reinbursement. Welcome to Turim Presidente. We decided at that moment not to purchase anymore food from the hotel, for fear of inferior chefs or wannabe cooks. The included breakfast was great, so we think that someone who was totaly unqualified, had attempted to be the master of the kitchen during that late night bar food experience. Too bad, as it ruined our initiation to the hotel, especially considering the cost for a cheeseburger. Later, during our stay in Portimao, I had the pleasure of having a cheeseburger at one of the local restaurents, Rock Sports Bar. It was fabulous. 我和我的伴侶在8月/9月b+b在這裏住了一個星期,可愛的酒店,基本房間和標準早餐。位置很好,儘管就在海灘旁邊,附近有很多酒吧/餐館,還有很多攤位和商店。這是一家經濟型酒店,但很可愛,工作人員也是如此。早餐每天都是一樣的,但它並沒有讓我們失望,因爲我們在這裏度過了一個美好的一週。游泳池也很可愛,花園也很好。我們絕對會回到這裏。我們度假的價格也是實惠和合理的。

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the services provided. Our room was cleaned daily, and towels were changed every two days. The reception staff was incredibly helpful and accommodating. Initially, I was hesitant after reading a mix of negative and positive reviews ranging from 1 to 5 stars. However, I am pleased with the service and feel that I am receiving good value for my money. While there were a few minor issues, such as a broken drawer knob, I have no major complaints as I booked a 3-star apartment, not a 5-star one. Typically, we opt for a half-board package, but this time we decided to try self-catering due to our vegetarian and now vegan lifestyle. The apartment provided ample pots, pans, and dishes, allowing us to purchase fruits and vegetables from nearby shops. Aldi and Lidl are a 30 to 40-minute walk away, while I found Intermarche to be convenient and reasonably priced, located near the beach just a short walk from the apartment. Speaking of the beach, it is only a 5-minute walk away, although I have yet to explore the apartment's swimming pool as we spend our days by the sea. Overall, it is a pleasant place to stay with a fantastic location and friendly staff. As we endure the winter weather in the UK, the daily temperatures here range between 20 to 25 degrees, providing a welcome escape.

The Oceano Atlantico hotel is conveniently located in the rather picturesque Praia da Rocha area of Algarve. It is within walking distance of the beach (it takes approximately 15-20 minutes at a leisurely pace to get there) and there is also a Lidl store nearby. There are a number of football pitches and pools in the vicinity of the hotel, so it is likely to meet the expectations of people who are sports buffs. There were no problems pertaining to the check-in and the staff members were polite and attentive, with everyone being conversant in English. The rooms, which are akin to mini apartments, are rather spacious and all the necessary amenities are to be found, including towels, shampoo, soap, etc. There was a very wide selection of TV channels and the Wi-Fi was fast and reliable. I enjoyed the quality of the food (the variety was good as well, but there weren’t that many confectionery desserts) and appreciated that the dinner was buffet-style, which tends to be my preference. A few of the meals appeared to be distinctly Portuguese. This hotel (while not necessarily as luxurious as some of the ones in Lisbon) is likely to appeal to many different travelers. I will definitely be happy to return!

Ok we are only a few days in but can’t speak highly enough of this lovely hotel. Huge rooms that are very clean and nicely furnished. The staff are all really helpful and polite. The pool is gorgeous and a stones throw from a stunning beach. Wonderful!

Arrived Friday midday, pleasant and helpful reception staff, easy check in and hotel looked recently renovated with well presented and modern lobby. We unpacked into a large two bed apartment, three flatscreens and sofa, large fridge freezer and all accessories required for comfortable self catering. We spent a nice afternoon at a quiet pool among other families and couples (pool is freezing cold). This is where the good news ended. Around 5pm two coach loads of students descended onto the hotel with shopping carts (actual shopping carts) loaded with speakers and party signs. Our stomachs sank as did our 7yr olds, intimidated by rowdy youths in the elevator. I enquired at the front desk as to the situation and was met with the news that the party had booked almost the entire hotel out of rooms. The Flor Da Rocha sells the rooms as part of a student party package at various times throughout the year, see screen grab. The sequence of events is as follows; two coaches arrive mid afternoon, the lobby and swimming pool both flood with loud students and then the speakers appear on the balcony’s facing the pool area blasting music. Short lull when they dissipate to the supermarket for alcohol then from 9pm (when the families are settling the children) the noise begins again with shouting / singing / Macarena etc etc. people hanging over balcony’s with guitars, clapping and jeering. No intervention from hotel staff whatsoever. It comes as no surprise the in room telephone also doesn’t work when trying to contact reception. The fact Jet2 are marketing this hotel as a family friendly holiday is ridiculous. No sleep for a family of four for the first two nights of a seven night holiday. We selected Praia Da Rocha as a family friendly alternative to the usual stag and hen locations, what possesses the place to host a two day student bender is beyond me. Unfortunately, this is the second time Jet2 have let us down and we should’ve known better than to travel with them again. The rest of the week was fine although the students continue to come and go, fortunately for us the rest seemed to be athletes / youth groups rather than organised party goers. Given time and money has been spent to update the hotel it’s a real shame they choose to recoup this at the detriment to family and couple guests in an otherwise quiet resort.

We visited Portugal for our first time in the middle of October. The weather was a balmy 25° pretty much all week ☀️ we were incredibly pleased with our apartment which was very spacious, had a lovely big balcony and was cleaned every day by very smiley housekeepers. The hotel reception staff were warm and friendly and answered any questions we had helpfully and with a pleasing friendliness. The bar staff were very nice too and whipped up a mean pina colada to sip by the outside pool. The facilities (outdoor, indoor pool, sauna, toilets etc) were all immaculate and we very much enjoyed lounging around the outside pool most afternoons. The prices In the bar were very fair, €4 a beer, €6 cocktails and €5/6 for a cheese toastie with fries (which was plenty!!) The local shop was a 5min walk away which had a little of everything and the beach was an easy 10min away. We went into Praia do Rocha most nights and it was around a 20min walk and was around €5 in an Uber back to the hotel late at night. Lagos is around €25 in a taxi/Uber and well worth a day out. Alvor is roughly €2 on the bus which stops just outside. A couple of things were missing from the hotel room such as a mirror in the bedroom, a chopping board in the kitchen but didn’t in anyway affect our holiday. Would liked to have had a double bed but we just pushed the 2 twin beds together (twin beds seem to be pretty standard for the Algarve from what I’ve seen) Would highly highly recommend this apartment/hotel for anyone after a quite, relaxing área to visit. Would definitely visit again around the same time of the year as it was absolute bliss being one of only around 4/5 people around the pool each day. Couldn’t recommend highly enough as all the staff were brilliant and the accommodation perfect.
