They don’t exist anymore We loved these cabins. We own a house in Upper Canyon and have to drive by every time we go to our place. The fires in July of 2024 spared the sweet cabins, but we in Ruidoso and saw the flood take out most of the property. There are now just 2 building left and I am not sure the status. The rest is just cleared ground

I had reservations and paid $684 deposit for July of 2024. I cancelled well within the promised 2 week period. I have yet to receive my deposit back. I have emailed multiple times and have only been offered a credit to be used there. My husband and I have gone every year for over 20 years and loved it. I am extremely disappointed with the way we have been treated.

Avoid Ruidoso Lodge Cabins at All Costs! If I could give zero stars, I would. My family and I drove 13 hours with two kids, eagerly anticipating our stay at Ruidoso Lodge Cabins, only to be met with utter incompetence and heartless customer service. Upon arrival, we were told they had LOST our reservation—even though I had paid a $1,000 deposit in advance. Instead of apologizing or offering a solution, they brushed us off, saying we were “out of luck.” To make matters worse, they refused to refund the deposit, claiming I needed to take it up with my credit card company. This left my family stranded in a completely different state with nowhere to stay. The lack of accountability, professionalism, and basic human decency displayed by this business is shocking. Save yourself the stress, financial loss, and disappointment. This place doesn’t deserve your time or money.

If you ever went to the Romantic Ruidoso Cabins in years past, this is not remotely the same experience. We had gone to the Romantic Ruidoso Cabins 4 times for anniversaries and getaways, referred numerous friends, and loved everything about it - the cabins, location, scenery, amenities, and especially the management and staff. Now called Ruidoso Lodge Cabins and seemingly under very different ownership/management, our feelings have completely flipped. We had booked a 4 night stay at the cabins in October, starting on a Friday. We were notified early on the previous Wednesday morning that my husband's father had suddenly died so we obviously had to change plans and leave immediately to be with his mother out of state. I texted the booking representative at RLC at 8:00 in the morning explaining what had happened and told her that unfortunately we could not make the trip. While I understand there is a cancellation policy for both deposits and final payment, this is not a major corporation, hotel chain, etc. so I hoped for a little leniency or compassion. Not to be - even if they were not willing to refund the deposit, I would have thought that the balance, that had been charged only HOURS earlier, could have been refunded. Nope. I even asked if we could use the partial/full amount for a credit on a future stay. Nope. We tried fighting the charges through our credit card company but no luck. One of the nicest things about the Romantic Ruidoso Cabins before this change in management - or at the very least a change in attitude - was the people. The ladies at the front desk answered the phone with a smile you could hear through the line, helped with planning, gave thorough details about cabin locations and amenities, provided any items left behind at home, etc. As far as I can tell, there is no welcome crew or maybe even a front desk anymore. All my booking was done by text until I was finally able to get someone on the phone with a screaming child in the background who sounded completely uninterested in welcoming a guest and didn't send a map until I practically begged for it. I totally understand that Ruidoso underwent a horrific season of flood and fire, but I don't care to hear that rudeness and a lack of sensitivity are the result of it. I'm sorry that we will never again go back to this beautiful spot. It was a trip that we were very much looking forward to now and again in the future. As management stated to Mastercard, "This guest should not have received a refund, as they agreed to our cancellation policy, and we made sure to set the proper EXPECTATIONS with them prior to the cancellation." If you plan a visit to Ruidoso Lodge Cabins, plan not to "expect" the death of a loved one in the meantime.

We have gone to Ruidoso Lodge Cabins every year for 20 years. We had a reservation for July of this year 2024 and had to cancel 1 month before going. I notified the management and they assured me our deposit of $684 would be refunded because we were within the 2 week cancellation timeframe. I have called, emailed multiple times. We have yet to receive and refund and now we are leery of ever making a reservation there. So sad because we always loved going there. They SHOULD refund our money.

Excellent place to stay. Very comfortable and clean with a beautiful view if Rio Ruidoso. Very convenient to midtown and shopping but can easily travel to local restaurants, go sight seeing, or just stay and enjoy the tranquility of the scenery.

Wow, I would really like to give these cabins a 5 star. So many things about them were really good, and enjoyable. But I'm just unable to. Here goes: Pros - 1. location is great. outside of town just enough to feel miles from all the noise, but also not too far that it takes too long to get there. 2. Reasonably priced. They weren't the cheapest or the most expensive, but overall, well priced. 3. Staff is really helpful. Pam made our check in super easy and fun! She should get a raise! 4. Clean and well taken care of. Nothing really needed repairs or anything like that. Cons - 1. Incorrect pictures and/or information. FIrst off, the pictures of the cabin we rented, were not the same cabin that we stayed in. It showed it had a woodframe king bed. It did not. We stayed in cabin #22 and let me tell you, it's got a queen size bed in there. Didn't really appreciate being misled by the description of a king bed. 2. The other big miss, was the cabin we supposedly rented had pictures of an AC in it. But when we got there, there was no AC! We had a fan, but that was it. We had to open the windows at night and had the fan on high, but it was not fun to sleep in hot conditions. If you like it colder when you sleep, I would think twice before renting. Just really didn't appreciate the pictures showing an AC and the writing stating that it had a king bed when it wasn't.

We stayed in cabin 6 as we did last year. This cabin is great with a king size bed (very comfy), fireplace, small fridge, oven, shower and jetted tub. The grounds are beautiful with Ruidoso River running beside the cabin. The two ladies in the office, Pam and Chris, are friendly and helpful. Pam even helped us unload our vehicle and helped carry everything to the cabin. Love this property! We will go there again and stay in cabin 6!

We changed our plans at the last minute and while crossing into NM from TX I was searching on my phone for a place to stay in Ruidoso that was peaceful, clean, and allowed a dog. I came across the individual cabins for Ruidoso Lodge Cabins and while I still had cell service, my husband pulled over so I could call to try to get a reservation (it was 5pm and the office closed at 6pm). I spoke with Chris who was incredibly helpful, kind, went above and beyond to make sure we had the cabin we would be happiest with, and even explained where we could eat that night depending on our food preferences. After discussing it with my husband (while still driving to the Ruidoso) we decided to make it a two-night stay because we were certain it would be a wonderful place based on how our interaction with Chris had been. A quick phone call right before closing and we were all set, confirmed, and had all the information we needed to get into the cabin on our own. The cabin itself was as-described, in a quiet little spot up the mountain, with adequate space between it and the other cabins. You could tell immediately it was a step above the other little rentals we had passed on our way to this one. It was beautifully appointed, clean, and perfect for our stay. If we go back to Ruidoso, we are definitely not staying anywhere else. Thank you Chris!!

Everything about the cabin was perfect. The setting on the river was pleasant and quiet yet close to town. We will definitely return.

The cabin was perfect for our spring break trip. The king size bed was comfy, the hot-tub was a treat for my achy muscles, and the fire crackling in the fireplace while we were relaxing was a great bonus for the snowy evening. We appreciated having the things we needed available so we could cook breakfast and dinner instead of having to go out. We loved seeing the wildlife that came to the cabin. We didn’t mind the wet, rainy, snowy weather because the setting was so peaceful and beautiful. We would love to come back to Ruidoso and stay at Ruidoso Lodge Cabins. It was a fun trip and we enjoyed our time there.

This place was amazing! Loved it and Pam was great ! We got to do something we have never done . Pet Deer . Take apples they will come right up to you Loved walking by the water . Loved the Brewery downshift nearby a must go to . Left the windows open to hear the water . There is a Restaurant nearby for breakfast that was good Penas place yummy .

We rented out 8 of the cabins with 8 different families. We were all relatively close together. If you have a big group be sure to rent cabin #10 - it was perfect for everyone to gather together, esp the adults while the kids played outside. Pam, the front desk attendant was very attentive to our every need. She asked us every day if we needed anything and went out of her way to help one of our friends’ little girl when she twisted her knee on the slopes. Pam made sure we had ice to make her an ice bag. Made lots of great memories on and off the slopes! Best place for families!

We had a wonderful stay in the Riverside Cottages! Our cottage was cozy comfortable and clean! Great location.. although we had a house overlooking Sierra Madre that burned to the ground in the McBride which had a spectacular view.. we enjoyed the location and serenity of the Cottage also..
