On the plus side, this is an interesting, characterful hotel well-situated for exploring Penzance and the locality. It is very convenient for the promenade and beach, the Jubilee Pool, shops, bars, restaurants and The Scillonian's departure dock for the Scilly Isles. The staff are friendly, helpful and quick to respond to any issues that emerge. Each room is different, and ours was comfortable and warm. On the downside, as the hotel has no car park its central location means you're battling for the - very limited - on-street parking. And while our room was comfortable, we had quite a bit of noise from neighbouring rooms (snoring, TV etc), upstairs room (creaking floorboards) and the street outside - though it was Saturday night and we were at the front. Our bathroom was very small, if well kitted out with toiletries. And the breakfast was average at best: we don't expect burnt toast to leave the kitchen and the half full pot of tea with the single tea-bag feels like a false economy on their part when trying to create guest goodwill. Overall therefore, fun and quirky for an overnight stay but maybe not recommended for longer.

We had a lovely stay. We were lucky enough to be in The Lookout and what a view! The room was incredibly comfortable and the attention to detail was second to none. Lovely Bramley products in the bathroom too! We had a delicious meal in the restaurant and the staff went above and beyond. A special mention for Jonathan who really made us feel welcome. We shall be back!

Had the pleasure of staying at Artist Residence Penzance for a family retreat, and I cannot recommend it enough. Coordinating accommodations for a group of nine can be quite a challenge, especially in a smaller town. Yet, the staff here went above and beyond. They were attentive, patient, and incredibly generous, ensuring our experience was seamless and memorable. The dedication to service truly stood out, and we are deeply grateful for their efforts. A must-stay for anyone visiting Penzance!

A delightful hotel in the heart of Penzance so ideal for exploring both the town and Newlyn. The room was amazing - very quirky decor and luxurious with a great bath and a lovely bed. All very relaxing. We didn’t have dinner at the hotel only because we wanted to explore other places in Penzance but we had a lovely relaxing breakfast by the log fire all served by a very helpful member of staff.

as ever, this quirky boutique hotel provided a level of personal service and plenty of "stuff" in the room to make the stay memorable. Just be aware some rooms are very small so for a long stay make sure you get a bigger one...

An excellent room with a fine view of the historic Admiral Benbow: the room was quirky, yet modern and with every convenience (including a minibar - a rarity nowadays!) Fantastic service in the restaurant, except for one morning, when breakfast was very delayed, but that's a minor quibble. A highly recommended hotel.

Avoid if you have food allergies this is dangerous plqce to Eat We dropped in for lunch group of 6 we explained we had one person with severe peanut allergy and other Celiac but where told we could be catered for. Turns out only if you want a plate of French fries and kids plate of macaroni cheese. (Off the shelf frozen chips and pasta are available at an 8th of the price in Aldi) this place is style Over substance. But the most worrying thing of all is the young female waitress clearly didn’t have a clue about the menu let alone Allergens and should not be front of house or near food. Clearly was panicked and shuttled back an forth between the kitchen trying to relay messages she didn’t understand from us or the cook. Who seemed mainly convened about wanting to close the kitchen by 2pm. When food arrived for the rest of the group it was tiny portions and comparable with anything you can pick up the chilled section of Waitrose. As a Cornishman I am embarrassed a local Hotel serving this up to our visitors.

Jonathan's welcome and helpful guidance upon our arrival, was so appreciated, followed by attentive care from all the team. Dinner and breakfast scrumptious. The room a delight - air conditioning perfect. We badly need a break. THANK YOU for making our time special and memorable.
