This hotel is fabulous. The vibe is modern but cozy. Huge sectional in my room, nice robe, spa bathroom and luxury bedding. Under bed lighting for getting up in the dark. The bath and body products are delightful and smell wonderful. Awesome electirc kettle and coffee bags in the room. Friendly staff and great location near the Embarcadero. Did not eat at the hotel, but the bar had wonderful craft cocktails (whiskey sour with egg whites, yes please.) This will be my go to hotel in SF going forward.

The Jay is a beautiful, newly renovated boutique hotel with a relaxing Zen atmosphere and in a great location. The staff were all excellent including everyone we met from valet, check in, room service and the restaurant. The manager Orlando seemed to be doing an excellent job hiring and training people as they all seemed happy to be there...rare these days. The rooms were extremely comfortable and beautiful in design. We were so relaxed and comfortable that we decided to stay in for the evening and enjoy the amazing food and service on the Third Floor. Love the roof deck as well. Great, safe location for walking around the Embarcadero and China Town. We will definitly be back soon!

The Jay Hotel is as chic as it is comfortable -- which is a perfect, yet hard to do well, combination! I just stayed there with my son this past weekend and we both say we can't wait to come back. The room w/ two queen beds was spacious and our room on the 10th floor had a great peekabo view of the Bay Bridge (which was easily seen as we had two days of the warmest and clearest March weather I've ever experienced in SF). The Third Floor patio is great -- we met friends for drinks around the firepit before we went out for dinner one night. The bathrooms were chic and the water hot (two things I wish I had at home). The location was perfection -- even though there was a coffee bar in the hotel, it was fun to zip out to get coffee at a local Philz or the Ferry Building. From the doormen to housekeeping, all the employees were polite and friendly. Special shout out to the super-friendly and helpful Nihad at the front desk and the funny general manager Michael for ensuring that everything was perfect and we'd have a wonderful stay. Thanks for such an amazing stay, I hope to be back soon!

Beautifully done. The newly renovated hotel is in a great area. Close to Chinatown, North Beach, Ferry Building and downtown. Must stay! New furniture and decorations are very tastefully done Amenities spaces and gym are done well! I used to stay at the hotel when it was Le MERIDIEN because of proximity to our office, now I will also stay for pleasure on the weekends in San Francisco

INTRO 4 months old property, rebranding, refreshing the le Meridien. Autograph Collection is aggressively growing in the US and it's good news, if you're trying to escape standardized lodging solutions. PROs Inspiring multitude of decorations, yet uniform band of colors. Very nice personnel in all departments, from Valet to Lobby and Restaurant (independently run). My family and I witnessed the Operation Manager, Ms. Ana Kutle, leading by example, performing tasks that you'd expect from other collaborators. The team seemed very cohesive and willing to deliver the best service. These things work when they cascade top-down. Wonderful room, nice and rather large bathrooms. Fine materials, fabrics. The lights are something special (see below). The restaurant/bar terrace is a true gem. There are other places with Bay view: the Jay offers an urban, modernist/brutalist view with very nice furniture, fire pits and music. CONs Please, private message me if you find any - I'd be interested in considering what I may have missed. To Boutique Hotels Freaks (like Yours Truly): The "BH" label is an overly abused term, we all agree. Autograph Collection as a brand is in my opinion in its own league. They don't tease you with easy, catchy details. The whole decoration concept of each hotel is non-related to others, period. I enjoyed the presence of furniture of different styling (the chairs in particular were wonderful). De-lightful lights are also to be mentioned, both in the room and in the lobby area. The mezzanine is also a jewel - I could visit 3 of the meeting rooms, each one different from the other. A spectacular sculpture of Arnaldo Pomodoro is the climax of the entrance staircase. But the key point is what they built around it, in terms of light, colors, materials - it's a whole construction, not just an artist's item. To Modernist/Brutalist Architecture Freaks (like Yours Truly): Between The Jay and the Ferry Building you can admire/despise several Brutalist buildings, including the Vaillancourt Fountain, sprayed in 1987 by U2 lead singer Bono. It's actually rare to see so many examples of this style so near to one another. Also, walk down Clay St., enter in the Hyatt Regency, admire the impressive contrast between the exterior and interior. Exit on California st., by the Cable Car's end of line (and praise yourself for having chosen in The Jay instead). To Safety 1st people, Families with kids: I've been to SF 5 times in the past year. This area, financial district/Ferry building, is safe to walk around. In the Embarcadero square the number of let's say standings-by is extremely limited. Lots of tourists walking around too. Safe to take kids to play. COMPARISONS I typically stay at old fashion-style properties in SF: the Westin St. Francis, The Ritz Carlton, the Intercontinental John Hopkins, the Adagio. I have also tried modern properties that can be more reasonably compared to The Jay: the Hilton Union Square (one star less), the Nikko Ho

This was such an amazing stay for my Mom and sister visiting the city. I booked The Jay for them because it was a block from my office and a great location in the Financial District. Living in San Francisco, their is plenty of hotels to choose from, but what makes each one unique is the above and beyond service they provide. The Jay was just that and more, I wanted to make sure my Mom and sisters stay was great, so I requested accommodations for a higher floor with a nice view for them. I understand request are not guaranteed and are based on availability which I was ok with. To my surprise, when I checked in as the reservation was under my name and I added them as additional occupants. They did manage to get me in a high floor with a great view, and also added a complimentary room upgrade as well. This was beyond what I expected and I appreciated the amazing service provided, to little did I know, I forgot it was my sisters birthday weekend as well. So it was a great surprise for them to have a comfortable and spacious room to stay in. I want to thank the front desk staff for making the above and beyond accommodations and to the door man and valet for making my mom and sister feel like family. Always greeting them and opening the passenger door for them and entrance of the hotel. I am beyond thankful for everyone making their stay the best. For anyone looking for a great hotel in the city, this is the one, luxurious interior design, walking distance from the grocery store (Safeway), Embarcadero, North Beach (Little Italy), and in the Financial District. I look forward to booking my future stays here again.

I had the opportunity to stay at the Jay during a business trip. It’s an incredible hotel - completely new and gorgeous. Rooms are spacious and the finishes and decor are absolutely designed for tranquility and luxury. Looking forward to my next visit. From the friendly and helpful valet parking on arrival through check in, service was warm, personable and professional. Hotel decor is a fabulous balance of warm modern architecture that accommodates both form and function. Room was spacious, had a partial but lovely city view and the bed was super comfy. Bathroom had all amenities one needs and good lighting. Everything was spotless. Even though it was New Years Eve, we had no issues with outside noise nor did we hear other guests. Coffee counter and baked goods on 3rd floor was handy for a quick on the go breakfast and the sitting area is eclectic but elegant and comfortable. SF hotel parking and parking in general is pricey so if valet isn’t necessary, there is self parking across from the hotel. I have already recommended The Jay SF to friends and plan to stay here again, hopefully soon.
