Cape Verde Island

We had a terrible two weeks of food poisoning and unhelpful holiday resort reps. We stayed at the Tui BLU Cabo Verde. We had to see the doctor twice (Salmonella diagnosed) and purchase lots of medicine including antibiotics. Sadly the reps never took our complaints seriously. We thought that anyone considering a visit to the island of Sal should be aware that Cape Verde is NOT part of Europe and as such has no medical agreements with the UK. Any European health insurance you may have purchased isn’t valid in Cape Verde. The medical treatments etc that we had to have added an additional £200 to the cost of our “dream” holiday. We can honestly say that we didn’t “find our smile” after two years of Covid lockdowns and trusting in what we believed was a reputable travel company.

Hi we are here now you definitely need a cardigan or jacket for night time- it is windy day and night but sunny during the day. The sun is very hot I always use factor .15, sun cream but I am glowing red here! Bring high factor sun cream!

Nothing much to do perfect relaxation. No noise, no kids. Hotel Meliá Llana on Sal island. Very peaceful staff very pleasant quite a few remembered us from our last visits. Upgraded to the Level with swim up pools and private pool with its own bar with premium brand drinks. Very clean and tidy resort lovely beach area with plenty of shades and clear sea. Perfect for a break to get away from everything.
