Central location, ideal to explore the islands!! I was there with my pup which was more than welcome :) Staff very friendly, always with a smile in their faces. Rooms are amazing and well maintained, breakfast was delicious and available very early with is a massive plus! Highly recommended and it will be my first choice if I’m back.

Lovely welcoming Hotel - warm and so comfy! David is so friendly and extremely accommodating. He serves a delicious breakfast and perfect coffee! I was on business and it was perfect to have a nice warm room to return to each night. Bed lovely and comfy too.

Never made more welcome anywhere than my stay at this quaint hotel. The host David and his family were lovely and so accommodating. Having just had a stay in hospital before my visit and with special dietary requirements, David went out of his way to make sure I had food that I could eat and cooked to my needs. The hotel itself is in a great location and is dog friendly which I was struggling to find. It is decorated in an old fashioned style which is part of its charm. The rooms are absolutely spotless with beautiful bedding and spotless good quality white towels. Great tea and coffee tray with a couple of goodies which was a nice touch. Massive big TV to watch at night with some Freeview channels so that we could watch a movie. Would highly recommend at stay at this hotel.

David is an excellent host for the Herilsea House Hotel. The room was cosy and familiar feeling, we felt comfortable straight away. It was clean and comfortable and had an excellent TV with plenty of hot chocolate, tea coffee and dairy milk! The dinner was lovely and the breakfast was fantastic. Me and my fiancé would come back here in a heartbeat. The views from our room were splendid and it’s and excellent location - so close to town, thank you David!

We happily recommend the Herrislea House Hotel. David and the staff did all they could to make us feel welcome and at home, from hiking recommendations to plates of fresh baked goodies on our return to the hotel after long days of exploring Shetland. It was a pleasure staying there.

Our small-group tour of Shetland with Seymour Travel stayed in Herrislea House Hotel for 7 nights. What a great choice. Comfortable room, comfortable bed, quiet, fresh air, good breakfasts and dinners. Very accommodating and friendly owner and staff -- from the eldest to the youngest. The hotel is in the village of Veensgarth, with a rural feel but near the main north-south and east-west roads in Shetland, and 10 minutes from Lerwick, the main town. Very convenient for our exploration of Shetland. No bar, but wine, beer, and drinks available. This would be my choice for a return trip to Shetland on our own.

Staff were friendly, helpful, polite and professional. Breakfast food was very good, with plenty of variety. Location was just outside of Lerwick with good connections to the rest of the island(s), and wirh plenty of free off road parking.

This property boasts Shetland’s beautiful scenery, and affords a lovely, quiet location while being only minutes from Lerwick. The staff are lovely and accommodating. The breakfasts are delicious, as are the other special menu items; available to dine in or as room service. The rooms are clean and well maintained and provide amenities not always available in any hotel; let alone a small, country inn. Microwave, toaster, kettle, fridge and a well stocked minbar to name a few. There are laundry services available, as well. And the staff take very good care of your personal items.

Stayed before but possibly changed hands. Hotel was great in many ways with excellent food and rooms that were clean and have been decorated since my last visit. A fridge and microwave in my room was a bit odd at first but actually very useful! The hotel has lost sone of its former character (possibly the former owner) but was still lovely and retains sone of the eclectic decoration that was there before (the owner was a game hunter so this may upset some people). There’s no bar so if that’s a deal breaker you will be disappointed but wasn’t for me. I enjoyed my stay and although one member of the foreign staff didn’t speak I have no complaints about the rest who were all pleasant and helpful and appeared to be hard working. Would happily stay again or bring my family
