This place is very special. It’s family run and the attention to the comfort of their guests is outstanding! The rooms have spectacular sea views, the beds are comfy, there’s a lovely outdoor onsen, and breakfast is delish!! They also will take you into Shimoda, but there’s a super convenient bus stop right outside. Do not miss out on staying here!!!!
We stayed for 3 nights during the cherry blossoms month. There were 2 other hotels on our consideration but they were much higher in price and above our budget. I read that the hotel was dated and in need of maintenance when I make the reservations. For the price I paid, I got a very large room on a high floor with the sea view, I was prepared for the worst. Overall, checkin was efficient and a few foreign staff spoke English. The room looks much better than what I was expecting but the surrounding areas like the lobby, corridors etc look very worn out. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant and we try the semi buffet beef set and the ala carte fish meal. If you like fish, the braised fish was the best meal we had. There is not much eateries or shops near the hotel and if you don’t drive, walking can be a challenge. The Prince hotel was build during the boom time and was a top notch hotel. But now that the bubble has burst, maybe struggling to renovate. However the overall staff experience still remind top notch.
