The restaurant here is ridiculously pricey. $6.00 for a cup of drip coffee! 1 cup because my server never came back to ask if I wanted more. The worst part though, is that as I'm paying for $6.00 coffee in the restaurant I'm looking straight at the coffee shop where they undoubtedly poured it and a venti drip coffee costs less than $3.00. in fact for my $6.00 I could have anything on the menu. It may not be a lot of money in the grand scheme of things. But the principal just drives me nuts.
I am writing to express my deep disappointment and frustration with our recent stay at The Historic Davenport Hotel from Friday, September 20, to Sunday, September 22, Linen and Housekeeping Issues Upon turning in for the night, we noticed obvious yellow stains on the sheets of my mom's bed. Further investigation revealed that neither of the beds had their linens changed from the previous guests. This was evident as we could clearly see signs that someone had been in the beds before us. I immediately called to report this issue and was assured that housekeeping would come to change the beds. However, after waiting for two hours, no one arrived. At around 8 PM, I had to go to the front desk to request clean bedding so I could change the sheets myself, as housekeeping never showed up. The next day, we called for housekeeping to bring more towels, take away the dirty linens, and provide other necessary supplies. Despite waiting all day, we had to call the front desk again to complain because the housekeepers left the floor without attending to our room. Misleading Room Amenities Your website states that rooms are equipped with fridges, but this was not the case in our room. This misinformation added to our inconvenience. Pet Facilities We paid a $50 pet fee, expecting adequate facilities for our pet. However, the only area provided for pets was a small 9x9 square of green across the street, which was shared by pets from two hotels. This area was not only disgusting but also dangerous, as it was amidst a region with homeless individuals and drug *******. It was very scary to have to take our pet out in such conditions. We strongly suggest providing a more suitable and safe area, such as a pee pad with fake grass in the garage. Air Conditioning Throughout our entire stay, the room temperature was around 75 degrees, as there was no functioning air conditioning. This made our stay even more uncomfortable. Overall Experience I brought my mom for a special treat, but we felt completely ignored and neglected by the hotel staff. The only positive aspect of our stay was the amazing experience at the Davenport Spa, which soothed our frustration with the hotel's treatment. Given the high standards we expected from The Historic Davenport Hotel, our experience was profoundly disappointing. We hope that you will take these issues seriously and implement necessary changes to ensure future guests do not face similar problems. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Excellent service. Rooms are a great size and super clean. I would recommend for bisness trips. Breakfast is amazing. Eggs, sausage and waffles or pancakes. Oatmeal, fresh fruit and all the fixing. Staff are friendly and will make your stay enjoyable.
If you are looking for a good place to sleep while passing through town, this place is good. The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel and rooms were clean. There was lots of free parking. For the price there was not much for us to complain about.
BbluestangThis property should not be listed as it is totally unsafe for people to stay here. We have stayed here for the past 30 years and never has it been like it is now, we will never stay here again.. We checked in in the early evening and were put in room 608, shortly after we got into our room I could smell smoke and went looking for where it was coming from. I found a homeless person in the back stairs smoking his crack which we were also now exposed too, (we both felt nauseated after this exposure). In the parking lot I found two males carrying large boxes into the building. After checking our car I found one male doing something near the drivers door of an unlicenced SUV and the other inside the building lurking around the upper hallway. It seems some of the homeless live at this hotel. By then we had had enough and I told the front desk to get rid of the crack smoker and to cancel our reservation for the next night. We were kept up most of the night with transients coming and going from rooms around ours. There is no security in the buildings and anyone has access. The room itself was beyond dirty and run down. The bed had hair in it and the sheet was badly stained. The carpets are dirty and stained The curtains are broken and dirty. The window screen is also broken and unusable. Never again.
