灰狗酒店(Greyhound Hotel)

Von Beginn an fühlten wir uns im The Greyhound sehr Willkommen. Alle im Haus waren sehr aufmerksam, besonders im Umgang mit unserer Tochter (9). Sie hatte ihren großen Spaß. Zum Frühstück wählten wir aus der kleinen Karte immer nur einen Teller „Full English“ für uns Eltern. Super lecker und völlig ausreichend. Es gibt jedoch auch noch andere Gerichte wie Porridge oder Dippy Eggs zur Auswahl. Es stört auch nicht, wenn man Gerichte kombiniert, sodass jeder satt wird. Zusätzlich mit Müsli und Marmeladentoast vom kleinen Buffet waren wir bestens versorgt. Dass es kein Wurst und Käse gab, störte uns nicht. Zumal ich das englische Frühstück liebe und es für mich zum Urlaub in England einfach dazu gehört. Abends im Pub war immer etwas los (wird wohl auch von den Einheimischen gern besucht). So kann man den ereignisreichen Tag in der City gebührend ausklingen lassen. Unser Zimmer war im Hinterhaus, sodass wir ruhige Nächte hatten. Für das alles haben uns die 32 Minuten Fahrtzeit ab Carshalton zur Londoner Innenstadt (direkt mit der Southern nach Victoria Station) überhaupt nichts ausgemacht. Ideal war für uns auch die Direktverbindung von St Pancras Int. nach Carshalton mit Thameslink, da wir mit dem Eurostar angereist waren. Für den Nahverkehr empfiehlt es sich, schon vor der Reise nach England die Visitor Oyster Card zu besorgen. Die Kosten für die Freischaltung liegen aktuell immer bei £5,00. Vom Bahnhof Carshalton sind es dann nur noch etwa 10 Minuten Fußweg, teils am schönen See entlang, bis zum Hotel. Wenn wir wieder nach London reisen, dann auf jeden Fall The Greyhound!

Top tip - don’t bother with breakfast! The so called continental as advertised and priced (£13.50 each) was non existent - as already known by the staff but not disclosed to paying customers! The full English came as advertised although ‘eggs’ implies multiple and not just one. Also, you would hope your breakfast arrives along with others ordered and not simply left on the kitchen counter until you attempt to get it yourself. Very dissatisfied and in future will consider other hotel chains.

Hotel was nice and lively, however a number of inconsiderate late night guests ruined the experience. The Hotel staff did their best to try and calm the noisy party down, its a pity , nice hotel and good staff , just inconsiderate guests.

Wonderful hotel, all the staff were so friendly and the food to die for. Bed was very comfortable and shower was good although the tray did flood and leaked over the top a bit. Nice fluffy towels and a basket of snacks that you could buy and eat. Could gave done with a brighter bulb in the room but that was the only downside. I would definitely recommend The Greyhound as a place to stay, you won’t be disappointed!

My daughter was getting married close by and we decided to take a few of the rooms at the Greyhound. We were a large group and had a lovely meal the evening before and then a delicious breakfast the morning after. The team were friendly and professional and helped us all sit together in the comfortable spaces and nooks of the dining area and bar. They went out of their way to make my daughter and her new husband feel happy. The rooms were clean and cosy with great showers and lovely big beds and we had a fab morning in one of the large rooms all getting makeup and hair done. Thanks so much for your attention, I would definitely recommend to anyone looking to have a family get together in a lovely and relaxed setting.

Great hotel and rooms. Good food and GF options. Good service from Gemma on reception (I changed booking and then back again!), and from manager (I queried the bill and then realised I was wrong!). I was part of a wedding party and we were able to bring a car close to the reception door to load up, and were helped with carrying items to the car. When I checked in super late after the event there was no problem getting room access. They helped the wedding days (the wedding was held elsewhere) go smoothly. Highly recommended.

Pretty location near the ponds. Reasonably spacious room with modern bathroom which was very clean. The bed was very comfortable. Nice cooked breakfast and we asked for gluten free bread which arrived promptly. Will definitely return to the hotel. We stayed midweek and there was no noise at all from the bars/restaurant.

We found the hotel and pub very friendly and welcoming. The room was nice and comfortable with everything you would need. Although the pub is situated on the main road the rooms are in a separate building to the back so there is no noise from the road. A very relaxing and welcoming stay.
