Very strange check in. The older gentleman at the front wrote my credit card number down on a piece of paper he printed out for me to sign and initial. When asked why he was writing my cc # on this paper, the reply was “for reference”. Later, as I was at dinner, I received a notification that my card had declined a $10 charge at the best western. When I got back, I asked this older clerk if my card was declined and whh $10 was charged. He said yes,, but he was trying to put a hold on the card. Why? He admitted I paid in advance through ******* and that my card flagged this charge was fraud. He said , “don’t worry. You’ve done nothing wrong and you’re paid in advance”. I’m going to be addressing this with whomever is at the desk tomorrow. There are no items to purchase in this hotel. For water, we had to buy it out of a machine on the 2nd floor. Why would he try to make a charge for incidentals on my card when there are no incidentals available at this hotel? Very sketch.
