This Motel is great value - spacious, clean rooms - really well situated, well equipped and quiet. The owners are super helpful and friendly. We stayed the night before walking the Abel Tasman walk - and arranged to leave our car here for the two nights while on the walk - before returning for a final night. Although we didn’t use it, the pool looked really good - everywhere is beautifully kept and very clean. Would highly recommend.

We stayed here one night before our hike on the Heaphy Track and one night after the Heaphy Track. Both short stays were very pleasant. Rooms were spacious, comfortable and clean. Toiletries provided, tea and coffee in room. Good WIFI. Well equipped kitchen in the 2 bedroom unit. Location was great, flat walking distance to the i-site, supermarket, restaurants and shopping in town. Ideal for our needs on this visit. Under new management, owners were very obliging and helpful.

Very close to the main shopping street, a big supermarket and the rugby ground. Parking was always easy and access to the room was up an external flight of steps and along an outside walkway. There are also ground floor apartments with easier access. The room was particularly generous with plenty of space despite a king size bed. The small separate kitchen had all we needed (microwave, sink, cook top, plates and cutlery) and the separate bathroom was also generous. We didn't use the pool but it looked to be a decent size and sheltered.

Family group of 5 with adult children enjoyed our stay. Clean & comfy with ample space. We were upgraded to a 2 bedroom apartment which was ideal. We were able to check in an hour earlier when we arrived to park the car. It is an easy walk to CBD and lovely walking tracks around the river/creek. Management staff very welcoming & easy to talk to. Close to main roads, but no traffic noise at night. We enjoyed our stay & highly recommend.

Lovely spacious apartment, clean and modern. Comfortable bed, comfortable sofa and armchair. Excellent kitchen, everything we needed. Very beautiful, modern bathroom, great shower with good water pressure. A very comfortable and warm stay on a wintery Nelson night.

Pleasant stay, had everything we needed. Convenient location, walking distance to restaurants and supermarket. Glad we had a park adjacent to the office.

Rooms are set back from main road so noise was not an issue. We found Kings Gate clean and comfortable. Was a short flat walk into the main town. Motel was very good value for money paid.

We were delighted to receive an upgrade on our second visit. Good location (1km to main shopping area of Nelson) with friendly and helpful staff, including helping to deliver bags to room. Washing machine was great after our hike and onsite swimming pool.
