Located in the heart of Veracruz this hotel provides an excellent setting for exploring a lovely city. The main plaza is across the street so entertainment is easily available. Note that you may not want to face the plaza if you are planning to go to sleep early.
Spent three nights at this hotel while in Veracruz giving lectures at a medical convention. The hotel was clean and safe and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Don't expect as much English as you might in more popular resort locations like Cancun, Cabos, or Puerto Vallarta. You WILL need to exchange some $$ as the local establishments are not equipped to take US $$ and some do not take credit cards. Glad I did it at the airport as the hotel NEVER had cash to exchange for me for any day I was there! The hotel is showing signs of wear and tear, but the accommodations are comfortable and adequate. The ”balconies” are token at best. Not enough room to put a chair outside to sit, but you can stand on the balcony and look out over the pool and beach. The pool is nice and well maintained. There is a pool bar but I never saw it open. There is 1 restaurant. Decent food, slow service, limited menu. A few excellent restaurants nearby (short walk or quick cab ride). The beach is NOT white sand. It is sort of a ”muddy” sand mix, and hard packed. The water looks murky because of the brown muddy sand, but it is actually pretty clear. Gentle waves to calm waters. Walking up and down the beach in the early morning seems to be a popular local activity. Lots of people and their dogs walking up and down this beach area. All very friendly with greetings as you pass by. All in all, this was a decent hotel. Served its purpose well for a business trip (near the convention center). But I would not choose it for a vacation trip. Pretty far from downtown and historical area, and really not much to do or see. But I guess if you were looking for a fun and exciting beach vacation in Mexico, you probably would not be coming to Veracruz anyway (or at least shouldn't be).
We had a 10 day stay, we checked in but room was not ready since it wasn't 3pm. The young lady at the door told us that they had another resort and if we would like to see it to kill time and there we can eat lunch, so we decided to go. When we get there we are greeted by another person they ask for our information, how much money we make come to find out it was like trying to convince us to buy similar to a timeshare. It was supposed to be 90 minutes came out to be 120 minutes because they kept bringing other people to try to convince us. The first lady was a sweet heart she was just doing her job. We kept saying we where not interested and they kept on trying to convinced us first to pay $50,000 within a 40 year time plus $1999 to maintenance your points then they kept trying to drop the price, we wanted to leave but they said we had to sign some paper to say we refuse the deal or something. But kept bringing other people and trying to make a deal. They finally gave us a paper to sign and gave us some kinda food voucher for our time we didn't take it we just wanted to go to our resort. Now we are tired from our long flight and wasted time with this time share thing. We finally go to our room and it's nothing like the picture. The room looked like a cheap motel room. The room was dirty, there was no lock to the sliding door, so anyone from other rooms can just come in. The sliding glass door was brooking, there was a puddle of water outside the suppose views of the beach. We didn't stayed we checked out and got another place to stay. Worst place ever. Not sure how was that the Junior suite. The front desk girls where very nice at check in. And the bell boy also. But not worth spending your money. They need to be more cautious especially if a person is staying long stay you want the person to feel comfortable not give them a crappy room. You have a dime kinda view of the beach but it seems you re right on the next customers room the balcony is so close you can literally climb to the other balcony.
