I have dined several times celebrating different occasions at Oheka Castle over the years. This time I decided to stay over night at Oheka Castle just for a getaway. The room was nice. comfortable and.clean. The staff was very friendly and attentive to your needs. The food and atmosphere was excellent. We dined outside this time since the weather was so nice. WE would go back again.

The Oheka Castle, also known as the Otto Kahn Estate is an absolute amazing hotel and a magnificent attraction located in the North Shore Of Long Island. In March of 2023, I brought and treated my wife and myself for a great weekend stay at the Oheka Castle to celebrate our Happy Five Year Wedding Anniversary. Built between the years, 1914-1919, the castle once served as the principal residence of Otto Herman Kahn, one of the 20th Century’s most successful investment financiers and philanthropist. Oheka Castle is the largest private home in New York State and the second largest in the United States. Today, the castle is owned by Gary Melius, a prominent Long Island developer and functions as a luxury hotel, conference center, and as a wedding events venue. Due to its immense beauty and grandeur, Oheka Castle has hosted several celebrity weddings ranging from Curtis Martin, Kevin Jonas & Brian McKnight. The castle has also been prominently featured throughout popular culture, such as its appearance in films, Citizen Kane, What Happens In Vegas, and music videos, Beyoncé’s Haunted & Taylor Swift’s Blank Space. During our weekend stay, both my wife and I were captivated by the elegance and opulence of the castle, it’s gorgeously designed architecture, and were deeply impressed with the estate’s majestic landscape, superbly manicured lawns and the highly decorative Otto Kahn office. The story of this lovely castle is interesting & wonderful. Absolutely take the tour! Great guide! My sparkly clean marble bathroom with clawfoot soaking tub was fabulous. High marks for the tub tray & Molton Brown toiletries! The bed & pillows were very comfortable... And the art placed around the room & on the mantel (nonworking fireplace) added a nice period touch. After the awesome driveway, parking was a bit confusing... and the check in was a very sad experience. Check in is 3:00. We arrived at 4:00 - so right in the pocket - In a cramped and dowdy reception office, we were 'helped' by a literally chicken dinner eating clerk who seemed put out that we were there. We carried our bags up the steep but albeit gorgeous entrance stairs (later we discovered on our own that there is a slightly more remote elevator we could have used). A disconcerting start that did not feel elegant or inviting. The stay however was ultimately lovely, dinner at the OHK restaurant was delicious, and the tour worth the time an few extra dollars.

Overall my stay was great. The rooms however are extremely small and dark. My original room was literally a box and only came with a stand up shower (which is not what I expected based on the photos advertised) so I asked for a different room that provided a full bathroom with tub. The upgraded room was slightly bigger but there was absolutely no view (barely even a window) so the room was very dark. The phone was outdated and didn’t have a directory and the bathrobes need repairing also more toiletry/products should be offered in the bathroom. And finally the booking site says there’s a 2hr guaranteed late checkout which is not true.
