船舶旅館(The Ship Inn)

Stayed 16-17th April really nice pleasant staff the food was amazing rooms lovely and clean admittedly could do with a touch up in parts but after being under water after the flood that's only natural had a brilliant stay would definitely go back 👏👏

Booked and paid stop 16th December owning my partner going hospital l cancelled room weeks before flooding ask refund no joy phoned again spoke staff no refund altogether l contact and spoke staff still no refund terrable not replying or refund me l will call pub next year in person for refund once pub reopen stay this pub 2 times before never again or would recommend

We went couple of times was really nice food was lovely we went in August and wasn’t told no cooked breakfast so was a bit disapointed but would be in December we cancelled our dec booking due to my ill healt in beginning now kept ringing for our refund still havnt got it £120 is a lot to lose And now found out it’s closed we cancelled well before the floods so can’t blame them

Accomodation was very dirty,stained carpets grease stains and drip marks of what I think was coffee all on the walls, the room was freezing cold and the mattress unhealthy. The furniture battered and the bath moldy. Very disappointed and even more so in the staffs attitude at sorting out the room. Requested a refund as we couldn't stay there and was snubbed. Looks great in the pubs own photos and the app used to book it but don't be fooled !!

We booked a table for 9 people fir a Sunday carvery. The food portions and quality was excellent. I personally asked if I could try two meats. The quality and portion size was exceptional. The steak pies were also superb. Staff were really friendly and very accommodating.

Really disappointed with the Ship Inn for a Funeral the young person behind the bar looked bewildered when we arrived no food was evident and no particular area had been reserved for the funeral party

Called in for a few drinks (I like the (Theakstons) very good service and polite. Had some food as a snack and was amazed the nachos were authentic Mexican and tasted superb. Accompanied with some very tasty fresh fries. Enjoyed our little time out.

We had been camping locally which makes this pub ideal. We have been previously and experienced no issues. However on this trip we visited the pub on three occasions, the first just for a drink with no issues as pub was quiet as was not serving food that evening. The second night we had booked a table for food and was fine, food good and really good beer. It does appear that there is new staff who maybe understandably a bit nervous but very polite. There was a quiz which we stayed for and was enjoyable. The third night we had again booked a table, the pub was very busy, on arrival a group of guys came in followed by another group. The barman was chatting to a guy not cutting off the conversation when he could see how busy pub was getting. We didn’t get acknowledged, he then started to serve the first group that came in behind us, they were loud and taking the barman’s attention as they added more drinks on. The other staff, including the chap that had been on each previous occasion we’d been in were obviously busy, but no assistance offered at bar to the barman who seemed a bit overwhelmed. Another staff member asked the guy who had seen us each previous visit (maybe chargehand?) if certain tables are reserved, at this point I thought he was going to address us as he did look at us, but no. A good 10 minutes or so stood at bar without even an acknowledgement. We left and went elsewhere, thankfully one of us was driving due to weather!

Have not been to this Pub in some time , we used to be regulars as it is a great location next to the river. Visited recently for a few pints and food, the first impression was not brilliant as the lad behind the bar started pulling the beer into what was very clearly a filthy glass, we mentioned the state of the glass and he tipped the beer out and stuck it under a steamer , I think maybe used in coffee making, then stuck it into the ice bucket, then pulled the pint, I've never seen anything quite like it, the lady with us had a bottle of lager and asked for a glass , the glass he offered her was disgracefully dirty so unimpressed she declined. Its the first time I've ever come across a situation like that, we had food which came out ok, on standing at the bar to pay the bill we noticed the state of all the drinking glasses under the bar, all filthy, will not be going back in a hurry, surely they have a glass washing machine which I thought should be mandatory in 2023.
