Kanas Geological Park ~ Xinjiang

The geological park is located at the junction of Kazakhstan, Russia, and Mongolia, situated in the Altay region of Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang. Kanas Lake inside the park is crescent-shaped, 24.5 kilometers long, with a maximum width of 2.2 kilometers, a shoreline stretching 52 kilometers, an average depth of 90 meters, and a maximum depth of 188.4 meters. Kanas Lake is a sink lake, mainly fed by glacial meltwater and precipitation from the Kanas River basin, flowing into the lake from surface or underground sources. Kanas Geological Park is a comprehensive ecological tourism area integrating glaciers, snowfields, mountains, rivers, lakes, forests, and grasslands. Kanas Lake was formed 15,000 years ago. The lake water is emerald green and crystal clear, giving visitors a feeling of wanting to stay and not leave.
