Hiking plog｜Three days in the heart of Kawagebo, the beauty is beyond words

HI hardworking people, the annual mountain entry quota for Gugu is here again. This year, I finally headed to Meili Snow Mountain. The route to the heart of Kawagebo, a three-day, two-night hike. The trip is not tiring, yet extremely beautiful— Nanzhu Temple Pasture Camp: The forest lawn is very gentle. Benggeding Camp: The main peak of Meili Snow Mountain, Kawagebo, is right before your eyes. You can see Mount Mianzimu and the Five Crown Peaks. Especially when the Milky Way and the golden sunlight on the mountain appear, it’s so moving it brings tears to your eyes. Cordyceps Camp: Get a close view of the Goddess Peak and the Five Crown Peaks, and you can even see the sacred lake of Yubeng Village, majestic and grand. At the high altitude in late November, you must wear a thick down jacket. When the wind blows, the weather changes, or at night, the temperature drops sharply. I wore this Black Ice 800-fill power goose down jacket. The warm goose down is locked inside thick fabric. Tested at 4500 meters altitude in winter, it’s very warm and windproof! The cut is very suitable for outdoor activities. Keep one in your backpack, so you can always handle weather changes. The total hiking distance is about 20 kilometers. The altitude gain is quite large, from 2000 meters to 4500 meters. Because the route is short, the intensity is moderate (short distance with big elevation gain, so every step is uphill). High-altitude hiking should be done by experienced hikers who know their limits. [Itinerary] I departed from Chengdu, flew directly to Shangri-La, and arranged only 4 days including major transportation. Day 1: 6 AM from Shangri-La to Feilai Temple, enter the mountain at 1 PM, camp at Nanzhu Pasture at 3:30 PM. Day 2: Depart at 9 AM, arrive at Benggeding at 1 PM, rest, then lightly pack and hike to Cordyceps Camp and back, returning to Benggeding around 6 PM. Day 3: Descend for about 4 hours, return to Feilai Temple or Shangri-La. P11 and 12 were taken at the viewing platform.
