So, we changed our itinerary on the bus, and the driver even kindly helped us buy tickets. After entering the scenic area, we chose to buy one-way sightseeing bus tickets to go up the mountain—because we heard that it required climbing about 3,000 steps to reach the top, which was indeed a wise decision. The bus wound its way up, passing through layers of greenery, as if being taken to a tranquil highland. The Grand Buddha Temple is built against the mountain, with a solemn and serene atmosphere. The 49-meter-tall golden Buddha statue atop the mountain stands majestically above the clouds, exuding a sense of tranquility even from afar. The temple's architecture blends Dai and Thai styles with Theravada Buddhist elements, its golden tiles, red pillars, and upturned eaves revealing a profound cultural heritage in every detail. On the descent, we chose to hike. The scenery along the way was serene, occasionally punctuated by the sounds of wind chimes and birdsong, like walking a path leading to the depths of the soul. We passed a sacred Bodhi tree, beneath which devotees sat quietly chanting scriptures; at that moment, time seemed to slow down. 🌉 There's also a glass walkway at the summit, an extra-cost attraction requiring shoe covers. The moment we stepped out, the entire cityscape unfolded beneath our feet—distant mountains, a sea of ​​trees, rooftops, and clouds intertwined, like standing within a three-dimensional landscape painting. A gentle breeze caressed our faces, the ground was transparent, yet our hearts were unexpectedly at peace. This unplanned detour turned out to be the most serene part of the journey. Sometimes, the most beautiful scenery isn't at the destination, but in the moment we choose to turn a corner. 🛕 Scenic Area Introduction: Mengle Grand Buddha Temple is located on the lower section of Bodhi Avenue in Jinghong City, Xishuangbanna. It is a cultural tourism area rebuilt on the original site of the ancient Dai Dynasty royal temple, "Jingpiao Temple." The entire temple is built against the mountain, requiring approximately 3,000 steps to reach the top, or you can choose to take a sightseeing bus. The temple blends Dai and Thai architectural styles with Theravada Buddhist elements, creating a solemn and tranquil atmosphere. 🌄 Must-See Highlights: Auspicious Buddha: A 49-meter-tall golden Buddha statue, the spiritual symbol of the entire scenic area. Jingpiao Grand Hall: Rebuilt as a memorial to Princess Nansha Weibian, intertwining Dai history and Buddhist faith. Zhuangkai Golden Pagoda: Its base is shaped like a plum blossom, a national key cultural relic protection unit. Sacred Bodhi Tree: Symbolizing Buddhism and the continuation of life. Peacock Release and Water Splashing Square: Daily performances showcasing the festive atmosphere of Xishuangbanna. 📌 Tips: Comfortable shoes are recommended. If hiking downhill, the path is beautiful but has many steps, so be mindful of your stamina. The glass walkway requires an additional ticket and shoe covers. It's recommended to visit on a sunny day for better views and photos.
