Wanlitong Accommodation Review｜Sea Walking

A peaceful night in a rustic fishing village for NT$2800 on a weekday in the Sunrise Room Ever since staying at ASBO in Okinawa, I’ve been curious if Taiwan has similar-style accommodations where you can comfortably enjoy the sea view. One day, I stumbled upon a post by the owner of a guesthouse on Threads. The rooms looked beautiful, and you could see the sea, so I immediately made a reservation. On the day of our stay, the owner kindly called at 11 a.m. to inform us that we could check in early at 2 p.m., which was incredibly thoughtful. However, my husband and I had plans in Kaohsiung, so we didn’t arrive in Wanlitong until 4 p.m. Parking here is very convenient, and after parking, the owner was already at the door to greet us. --- 🏝 Wanlitong: A tranquil fishing village untouched by over-commercialization Upon entering the guesthouse, the owner provided a detailed introduction to the accommodation. Wanlitong is a small fishing village that hasn’t been overly commercialized—quiet and comfortable. Most nearby eateries close around 7 p.m., and it’s about a 15-minute drive to Hengchun Old Street. Not knowing that it was a 15-minute drive to the nearest FamilyMart, I regretted not preparing food earlier at the Dolphin Bay 7-Eleven. After the owner introduced the nearby dining options, we decided to take a stroll around Hengchun Old Street. --- 🍽 Strolling Hengchun Old Street: Steamed meatballs, scallion pancakes, and braised duck snacks Since moving back to Changhua four years ago, I’ve found myself visiting Pingtung more often. Whenever we want to see the sea, my husband and I naturally head to Kenting. But after frequent visits to Kenting, I started looking for less popular spots where we could still enjoy the sea. This time, we chose Wanlitong. Next time, I’d like to plan a trip to Hongchaikeng. There must be many hidden gem guesthouses waiting to be discovered. I love the rustic fishing village vibe of Wanlitong. On a previous visit to Hengchun Old Street, I was pleasantly surprised by the steamed meatballs. Normally, I prefer the style of Ah San’s meatballs, but the steamed ones have their own unique charm. This time, we were even luckier—we finally got to try the fried scallion pancakes that we’d missed out on before! My husband and I shared one, and it was pretty good. We also bought some braised duck snacks to take back to the guesthouse for a late-night treat. We then stopped by FamilyMart to buy some drinks, thinking it would be nice to enjoy a drink while watching the sea back in our room. --- 🛵 Late-night snacks at the guesthouse: Ah Juan’s Eatery NT$300 delivery After buying the meatballs and returning to the guesthouse, we felt like having something warm. The owner recommended Ah Juan’s Eatery, which offers delivery to the guesthouse for just NT$300—a very convenient option. We ordered wonton soup, fried rice, and fried spring rolls. Enjoying these warm dishes with a drink in the guesthouse added to the travel experience. --- 🛏 Sunrise Room: Spacious and comfortable, but privacy on the first floor is slightly lacking We stayed in the Sunrise Room on a weekday for NT$2800 per night. The room was well-designed, and the sea view through the floor-to-ceiling windows was stunning. However, the Sunrise Room is located on the first floor. After sunset, there were still tourists strolling outside. When we opened the curtains to enjoy the sunset glow, we ended up making eye contact with passersby a few times… and eventually gave up. 😂 In the end, we closed the curtains and opened the side screen window to listen to the sound of the wind. I think the privacy of the Sunrise Room could be improved with some design adjustments, such as: ✔ One-way glass that allows you to see out but prevents others from seeing in ✔ Sheer curtains with soft lighting If these improvements were made, it would greatly enhance the privacy of the first floor. Later, I found out that upgrading to a second-floor room costs just NT$500 more! The rooftop room on the fourth floor costs over NT$5000 and includes complimentary cocktails. If I stay at Sea Walking again, I’ll definitely choose a higher floor. --- 🛁 In-room amenities: Bath bombs, sparkling drinks, and snacks The Sunrise Room is very spacious. The fridge comes stocked with two bottles of mineral water and two bottles of sparkling drinks. Outside, there are instant noodles and small snacks available. The quality of the amenities is excellent, and they even provide bath bombs. The only slightly awkward feature is the open-plan bathroom design. Even as a couple, it felt a bit uncomfortable. Adding curtains in a matching color scheme for privacy would make it perfect. --- 📸 A checkout surprise: Polaroid photos and beautiful Apple phone lighting When checking out the next day, the owner takes Polaroid photos for guests, which is a lovely touch. --- ❤️ Summary: Would visit again, but next time, I’d choose a different floor Weekday Sunrise Room NT$2800 Beautiful sea view, quiet environment Convenient delivery from Ah Juan’s Eatery (open until 7:30 p.m.) Warm and attentive service from the owner Slightly lacking privacy on the first floor → Recommend staying on the second floor (NT$500 upgrade) Polaroid photos and the personal touch leave a lasting impression If you enjoy rustic seaside fishing villages and are looking for a guesthouse where you can comfortably enjoy the sea, Sea Walking is definitely worth considering.
