A Hidden Gem Park in the City Center｜Bijia Mountain Camping + Hiking Guide

Introduction: Today, I’m sharing a hidden gem city park that combines hiking, light camping, fishing, cycling, and shopping, all reachable within a half-hour drive! 1️⃣ Driving Directions - Navigate to 📍【Bijia Mountain Park South Gate Parking Lot】. You need to reserve a parking spot in advance via the “iShenzhen - Smart Parking” app. Parking spaces are limited, so it’s best to arrive early on weekends. - If full, you can park at 【Shenye Upperhills Parking Lot】. 2️⃣ How to Get to the Camping Area - Lawn on the right side of the South Gate: Enter from the South Gate and turn right. After about 200 meters, you’ll see a large lawn with open views and plenty of shade. - Shenye Upperhills Lawn: There is also a spacious lawn under the pedestrian bridge connecting the park from Shenye Upperhills, suitable for light camping and picnics. 3️⃣ Recommended Hiking Route - Suggested route: South Gate Entrance → Big Brush Peak (Bijia Peak) → Sharp Brush Peak (Bijun Peak) → Return to South Gate. ‼️ Be sure to visit Big Brush Peak first (about 178 meters elevation) for excellent views overlooking the Futian CBD. - Then head to Sharp Brush Peak (about 164 meters elevation), where the path is shaded by trees and quite serene. - The whole hike takes about 2–3 hours, perfect for light trekking. 4️⃣ Fees - No entrance fee｜Parking charges are 4 RMB for the first hour, then 1 RMB per hour thereafter (see image 5). Charging your electric vehicle allows free parking for 2 hours. The camping area is free to use, first come, first served. 5️⃣ Restrooms - The park has multiple restrooms. The closest to the camping area are at the South Gate entrance and near the North Gate. They are well-maintained with staff cleaning regularly. It’s recommended to bring your own tissues. 6️⃣ Park Features ✅ Hiking to the peaks (Big Brush Peak and Sharp Brush Peak can be climbed together) ✅ Allowed to lay picnic mats, set up tents, and tarps (overnight stays are not allowed) ✅ Fishing allowed (in the Futian River area; please follow park rules and bring your own gear) ✅ Cycling-friendly (there are cycling paths inside the park; the main gate may restrict entry, so enter via the West Gate or Central Park Area E North Gate) ✅ Children’s playground and comprehensive sports facilities including soccer and basketball courts, plus an outdoor smart gym ✅ Sightseeing shuttle available (see image 6) ✅ Close to Shenye Upperhills, convenient for shopping and dining ❌ Open flames are prohibited; do not use charcoal or gas stoves ❌ Pets (cats, dogs, etc.) are not allowed in the park 7️⃣ Tips - The park has many mosquitoes; bring insect repellent. Snakes may be present, so it’s best to hike during the day. - Lawns get crowded on weekends; try to arrive before 11 AM to secure a spot. - Cyclists, please watch out for pedestrians, especially children on weekends.
