6-Day Road Trip from Xi'an | Wuhan + Jingdezhen + Wuyuan

🩷Who knows! Starting from Xi'an, I drove east through the Qinling Mountains, across the Yangtze River city, to the porcelain capital, and to seek out autumn colors. In 6 days, I checked off all the delicious food, cultural attractions, and natural scenery – this trip was absolutely perfect! ✨ --- 🌍 Day 1: Xi'an → Wuhan (9-hour drive) I set off at 6:30 am to greet the sunrise, traversing the verdant Qinling Mountains, and arrived in Wuhan promptly at 4:30 pm! After dropping off my luggage, I headed straight to "Feifei Shrimp Restaurant" (remember to book online in advance!). The braised shrimp was coated in a rich sauce, and the garlic sauce mixed with hot dry noodles was so fragrant it made me want to stomp my feet – a perfect first experience in Wuhan! As night fell, I strolled across the Yangtze River Bridge, watching the lights outline its shape. The river breeze was incredibly pleasant, and every snapshot I took was a masterpiece of atmosphere! 🏺 Day 2: Wuhan → Jingdezhen (4.5-hour drive) Staying at the Taoxichuan International Trade Hotel was so convenient – ​​the core scenic area was right outside the door! In the afternoon, I strolled around Taoxichuan, enjoying food and taking photos. The old porcelain factory-turned-street area was full of artistic charm; every corner with its red brick walls and kiln brick walls was a photogenic spot. In the evening, I spent time at the Taoxichuan market, where I was overwhelmed by the handmade ceramics and creative trinkets. I could also chat with the vendors about the interesting stories behind porcelain making – the atmosphere was incredibly lively! 🎨 Day 3: In-depth tour of Jingdezhen In the morning, I went to Taoxichuan to try my hand at "Little Yellow Jar Handmade" – painting unglazed pottery. There were over 300 unglazed designs to choose from, and over 50 types of paint for free expression. Even those with no artistic talent could create their own ceramic pieces under the guidance of an instructor. After firing, they could even mail them home! Mine is already fired – super beautiful (see photo 6)! In the afternoon, I went to the Sculpture Porcelain Factory to hunt for bargains. The niche designer shops held some surprises, and the prices were incredibly reasonable! In the evening, we headed to the Youth Market at the Jingdezhen Ceramics University. The creative works of the young vendors were so captivating; we didn't want to leave! 🍂 Day 4: Jingdezhen → Huangling, Wuyuan (1-hour drive) In the morning, we visited the China Ceramics Museum, immersing ourselves in the history and development of ceramic culture. It was educational and the photos turned out beautifully! In the afternoon, we drove to Wuyuan and stayed at the Huangling Sun-drying Inn. Opening the balcony, we could see the horse-head walls! Huangling at night was absolutely stunning. Red lanterns hung throughout the streets, and the lights of the Magic Forest danced like fireflies, making us feel like we had stepped into a fairytale! 🌫️ Day 5: Huangling → Wuhan (5-hour drive) We set our alarms at dawn to photograph the morning mist! Mist shrouds the mountains, revealing whitewashed walls and black tiles, while red peppers and yellow chrysanthemums adorn the rooftops, creating a scene straight out of an oil painting – this is the true way to experience Wuyuan! Spend the morning leisurely exploring ancient villages, capturing the beauty of autumn harvest scenes, and then head back to Wuhan in the afternoon. 🚗 Day 6: Wuhan → Xi'an (9-hour drive) Returning home with a wealth of souvenirs and memories, enjoying the scenery along the way, concluding this healing and fulfilling road trip! 📝Tips: 1. A short stop in Xiangyang is recommended on the Xi'an-Wuhan route to visit the ancient city wall and enjoy beef noodles to relieve travel fatigue. 2. Advance booking is recommended for painting unglazed clay sculptures in Jingdezhen to avoid weekend peak times. 3. The best time to photograph the morning mist in Huangling is between 6-8 am; wearing light-colored clothing will yield better results. 4. Road conditions are good throughout the drive; check the locations of service areas in advance and plan your rest accordingly.
