Self-driving to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, Yak Meadow, Blue Moon Valley Glacier Park Guide

Date: 2025.11.28 Self-driving from Lijiang Old Town, the trip takes about 1 hour 🅿️ We went early and parked at P4, which is the Visitor Center, but normally individual visitors are not allowed in there. At noon, they called us to move the car to a temporary parking lot, which is quite far, so it is recommended to park at P3 or elsewhere. ✔ Gan Haizi: After parking, walk to Gan Haizi, it’s very close, just a few minutes. Around 7:50 AM you can see the sun shining on the mountain peaks, p1 ✔ Middle Cableway Yak Meadow time: 8:00 AM, after ticket inspection, wait for everyone to board the bus to Yak Meadow Cableway. The Yak Meadow cable car fits two people inside. Arrival at Yak Meadow is at 9:20 AM. Be sure to walk on the right side, the slope is gentle and not tiring. At 10:30 AM take the cable car down. Altitude is 3500-3600 meters, personally no altitude sickness, just walk slowly. Yak Meadow scenery p2-5 ✔ Blue Moon Valley: Take the sightseeing bus to either Yunshanping or Shuiyue Pavilion stops, both are fine. One is at the top, the other in the middle. From Shuiyue Pavilion, you can go down to the most beautiful Jade Liquid Lake. Arrived at 11:44 AM, left at 12:20 PM. This area is not very big; we didn’t visit the two lakes at the bottom because we wanted to go back for lunch and rest. p6-9 ✔ Lunch: There are many food options at the Visitor Center. Be sure to eat well, dress warmly, and rest before taking the big cable car. We had lunch at Uncle Pu’s at the Visitor Center, recommended. Charging and restrooms are convenient, and you can also catch the Impression Lijiang show nearby. ✔ Glacier Park Big Cableway: Ticket inspection at 14:00, you can go 10-15 minutes early. The line for the big cable car up took about 30 minutes. At 16:00, the line for going down took about an hour. p10-17 Tips: ☞ Be sure to check the weather and choose a sunny day to go ☞ For the big cable car, each person should have at least one 1.4L bottle of oxygen ☞ Do not wash your hair or take a shower on the day you come down, safety first
