國家AAAA級旅遊景點，始建於北宋，在明代重建過。北宋的神僧普足禪師曾在此修行，見泉水清冽，於是改名建寺。它位於福建省、泉州市、安溪縣、蓬萊鎮蓬萊山。古稱張岩山，山清水秀，風景幽潔，群峰聳峙，峰巒迴環，疊翠披丹，雲煙縹緲。常在茫茫霧海行雲之中，美如“蓬萊仙境”。

安溪最出名的旅遊景點應該是清水岩了，在蓬萊鎮，市區車站有車去。清水岩上面人文建築不錯，古寺風景很贊，自然風景也不錯，非常值得一游。

位於安溪縣的清水岩，頭銜很多，國家AAAA級旅遊區，這裡有三個很特別的景觀。這裏山高水清樹綠，空氣清新，香火鼎盛。一是清水岩景區地處蓬萊山。因為這裏經常霧氣騰騰，仙氣繚繞，因此又號稱“南國蓬萊仙境”。 二是這裏以清水岩寺為主體，以清水祖師文化為特色，融宗教朝聖、生態旅遊、民俗展示、休閑度假為一體的風景名勝區。最為著名的應當是“帝”字形的清水岩廟宇，這個廟宇依山而築，下臨深壑，地勢極為壯觀，三層樓閣式。殿宇紅磚牆、青灰瓦，危樓重閣，隱在青松翠竹、煙嵐繚繞的山頂，典雅壯觀。三是清水岩山清水秀，綠樹挺拔，著名的景觀有“枝枝朝北”，一顆十幾人才能合抱的大樟樹，很特別的是所有的樹枝都朝北伸展。很是奇特。
