白鵝嶺位於白鵝峰與貢陽山之間，是東海與北海的分水嶺， 雲谷索道的上站在白鵝嶺東500米。白鵝嶺出露黃山複式補充期侵入的中細粒斑狀花崗岩，嶺南懸崖峭壁，壁上辟有400多級鵝下山石階，俗稱“400踏“。嶺北岩石演化為較易風化的細粒花崗岩，構成了中央高山台地的東部邊緣。由此向北即可到達北海和天海，由此南下即到雲谷寺

爬黃山真的是很累的一件事情啊，爬到白鵝嶺這裡有一個很大的平台可以拍照片休息休息的啊，這裏也是爬山路上人很多的一個地方了。

白鵝嶺這邊的景色個人還是很喜歡的啊，這次來黃山特地還這裏看日出呢，一早上來這裏玩的人也不少呢，這裏拍拍照片真的是很漂亮。
