Pompeii Stone Column is the site of Egypt in Greek and Roman times, not Pharaonic times, surrounded by dense residential areas. The main content is that the "pillar of knights" which is 25 meters high is the emblem of Alexandria 1600 years ago. Next to it are two stone statues of the Sphinx, and the surrounding temple ruins and various sculpture fragments. Because of the limited number of tourists and the short stay time, the cats here are very thin and most of the exterior walls of the surrounding residential buildings are not painted, even the top floor still has steel bars, ready to go on to cover. The next one is the one that checks in, then installs doors and windows, and paints them. Which one is clear at a glance (snickering) is often still brick-laying on the upper floors, and the next one has already checked in and opened a shop. This is a few meanings. 1. Egyptians are short of money in their pockets, how much money they have to do, 2. Egyptians build two bricks whenever they are free. The answer of the tour guide Aberdeen's belly is unexpected - "It's because the house has to pay taxes when it's built, and everyone is dragging on.
To visit such historical and cultural sites as Pompeii Pillar, it is better to see some introduction or related materials before visiting them. Otherwise, if you visit Pompeii Pillar rashly, you may only see a single stone pillar. We started from Cairo, Egypt, and drove for more than three hours before we visited Pompeii Pillar. The traffic lasted a long time, which gave the tour guide time to tell us the story behind Pompeii pillar. One way of saying about Pompeii Pillar is that in order to thank the Roman Emperor Diocletian for calming the rebellion of Alexander's general Ahri, the Egyptian Governor Bostomus set up the pillar in the middle of the square of the Temple of Cyrabis to show his gratitude. Another theory is that Pompeii was defeated by Caesar and fled to Egypt, where he was stabbed to death. When the European Crusades arrived in Alexandria in the thirteenth century, they decided that Pompeii's body was around the pillar, so they called it Pompeii's pillar. Today, when we came here, the temple of Sarabis had long been lost in the long river of history, only Pompeii Pillar still stands on bare hills. The whole stone pillar is over 20 meters high, made of granite and weighs several tons. If visitors visit it, they can walk up the stone steps on the left, and then come down from the right after seeing the stone pillar. The whole visit time is about half an hour.
這一塊遺迹算地標了,早點去人少。
