The Inner Mongolia Art Museum was originally built in 1957. In 1992, the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Government decided to demolish the old museum and build a new Inner Mongolia Art Museum at the original site, which was officially opened on April 16, 1997. In 2015, the new Inner Mongolia Art Museum was re-selected, and the construction of the key project for the 70th anniversary of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region was started. On September 31, the main project was capped, and the museum was officially opened on August 4, 2017, and it was opened for free to the community.
