聖約翰古堡

As early as the early nineteenth century, the Dutch fought against the British from St. John's Castle. St. John's Castle is on a small hillside. Unfortunately, there are only some relics and restored parts left. The mountain is now a reservoir. A big water tower is near the castle. Tall trees block the view of coastal roads and oceans.

St. John's fortress was originally a Portuguese chapel built in memory of St. John the Baptist. The Dutch rebuilt it as a fortress in the 18th century, making it an important fortress to defend the ancient city of Malacca. Only a few ruins, broken walls and fortresses remain to this day.

This castle, built by Portuguese colonists, has a history of at least 500 years. Great geographical discoveries in the West caused Portugal, Spain and the Netherlands to rush into the Indian Ocean and the Malay Peninsula. A lot of relics have been left.
