This hotel was absolutely fantastic and, believe it or not, actually came with a robe, which I gladly wore in the hours leading up to my friend's 40th birthday party. Everything was great except for one thing -- the interior of this hotel was ugly as sin. See the purple pool table below. Who greenlit this, exactly? Super ugly. When I was in undergrad this place was a dive and I saw the best noise show of my life in the lower area. Is this an improvement?

There was a wedding booked for the day we stayed so the bar area was unavailable for use and the lobby was very busy (as in difficult to even get to the front door to leave). The hotel notified us that this was happening less than 24 hours before we arrived, which was after our window to cancel. I would have liked to know upon booking that we couldn’t use the amenities since we paid full price and planned to have drinks at the hotel bar.

I was turned away because I do not have a physical Visa card, rather a Virtual Visa Card. I had to pay the room deposit on arrival and could not, as the only form of acceptable payment method is credit card.

Beautiful building, but extremely noisy - train tracks beside hotel, single paned windows that let in every sound, large loud ventilation systems in every room, and weddings 2 nights during the stay — the wedding guests were yelling in the hallways until 2am and left junk everywhere. Fun if you don’t like sleeping, ever, or you’re part of the wedding parry; not fun when you want or need to sleep for more than 3 hours a night.

First, the good stuff. The room was modern and had new stuff. The bed was really comfortable. Four gigantic pillows and a nice comforter. Now the bad stuff. There's construction around every arrival area of this hotel. To unload your bags you need to pull into a mysterious, very narrow alley in back of the hotel. Of course, none of this is clear to the staff so no one had any idea what to do when I arrived. I was invited inside to "watch a video about parking" while my car was still illegal outside. The parking turns out to be under the grocery store down the block. But you're going to pay $30 a day for that. there's no marked spaces you have to guess which ones are the hotels and which one belong to the garage tenants and the grocery store. I guessed wrong and was asked to go back and move my car for five minutes after getting into my room. I was in a tenant space because there was a piece of masking tape..? My room was on Queen Street… There's a tram under my third-floor window that ran all night. There were drunken arguments outside… They were automotive horns and endless chatter. I'd love to say that this hotel was in a convenient place for all this trouble but on a Tuesday night there wasn't any place to go to eat at 7:45 at night. I had a choice of pizza or pizza. Pizza pizza. Everything else was closed– even other hotels. There's no food at the hotel. The bar had a total of one person drinking alone in it. Did I mention this hotel was about US$400.

Space was lovely, staff was excellent. Only minor thing was cleanliness of the room. The hole to look out the door had the previous guests garbage stuck in it, and the sink seemed to have face makeup in it.

Very cool place to stay. They had a gorgeous staircase that took you up to the 4th floor. The staircase wrapped around an old fashioned lift. The room we stayed in had beautiful art pieces and unique closet space. Or only complaint was that the common rooms and bar closed at 10pm.

Great spaces, quiet, showcasing lots of contemporary art. If I were pressed to find any quibbles, and this is incredibly minor, the garbage can could have been easier to find. Overall, a fantastic stay and would recommend it to friends or family without hesitation.

Beautiful, comfortable, but I ended up checking out 1 day earlier, the room was not made up when I left (at 2 pm), so I asked if they could reduce the invoice or offer a late check-out option and they did not budge. The hotel was quiet, not high season by any means so they likely didn,t lose a booking. Also, having to go to another floor for coffee in the morning is a bit annoying . Since the restaurant doesn't open until 8 am, coffee in the morning was complicated.

Everything was great. Pillows were not very comfortable, shower head didn’t work and the heating system was so loud every 20mins it turned on and it sounds like a jet engine in the room it keeps waking you up at night. Everything else is good though so it’s a good place to stay for a short visit but I don’t know if I would stay long term.

Super super cool hotel, the old elevator is all original and adds a very unique experience. Loved it
