紅色威爾旅館(The Redwell Inn)

A very pleasant stay and a nice breakfast the following morning. Barney is a wonderful little town, even if you don't need your eyes tested.

Room needs a tray on which to place suitcase. Otherwise, you have to use one of the beds to use your suitcase. The cold tap drips. Shower needs some sort of holder for soap, shampoo etc. Difficult to use otherwise because it is very small

Small twin room with no surfaces near the beds to rest anything on. Self closing loo with a lid that would not stay up. Good breakfast but everything including bowls, milk condiments had to be requested.

What a beautiful find in this beautiful village. Hotel is a little gem very cozy and welcoming. Rooms lovely beds amazing nd fluffy pillows cudnt ask for better. Breakfast has plenty of options and is piping hot. Staff were fabulous coukdnt do enough for you. Will definately be staying again whe we get the chance

Had a lovely time. The staff in particular were very welcoming and helpful. The food was lovely, well cooked and presented and excellent value for money. Granted the accommodation could do with a bit of a refresh shall we say, but it was all clean and tidy and there was everything you needed. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

We had not visited the Red Well for a long time, although we used to like the food there so decided to pop in for lunch today. What a disappoin**ent!We will not be going again. The menu was bland and we had to go to the bar to order and even get our own cutlery. The service was so slow - 40 minutes waiting for 2 sandwiches and a bowl of "chips" to share. Plus when our meal eventually arrived the order had been confused. The young girl serving us was sweet but obviously run off her feet while another server sat and chatted to her friends at the table next to ours. The 2 stars are for the sandwiches, which were ok and generously loaded. The salad had no dressing so was tasteless and the chips (their description not ours) were thick and greasy. I noticed there were apparently no reviews since 2021; why is that? People too indifferentto express their views?

The staff were very welcoming but the quality of food was poor. I chose a chicken Caesar salad and was served pieces of chicken on shredded limp lettuce with salad cream.. breakfast was poor too. Weak instant coffee and “fluffy” cereal covered in sugar coating. A long burner was lit which filled the room with smoke. I needed to change my clothes as I smelt like a “bon fire” The scrambled eggs on toast when it came was good with nice fresh eggs

Very comfortable stay. All the staff were friendly, polite and very helpful.

Don’t stay here there’s no facilities no bar no restaurant as stated when booked Booked a room here as it had a restaurant and bar, on arrival waited 10 minutes for someone to arrive at reception, once checked in we were told the restaurant was closed as they had run out of food, so we had to get a taxi into Barnard castle try find somewhere to eat, got a taxi back and Redwell inn was all locked up it was only 7.30, I texted the number left in our room and was told they closed at 7 and that we had been informed this was a lie, we were not told when booking or checking in, spent the rest of the night in our room if we could have drove we would have left, room was dirty stains on carpets and bed, there was a terrace with dirty cigarette ends in ashtray. Didn’t sleep as there was a constant buzzing I presume an extractor fan had been left on or boiler running. Dressing table very wobbly had once been screwed to the wall but had come away Toilet seat was loose rusty dirty toilet brush shabby bathroom Owner was unresponsive
