A very comfortable stay was had. The rooms are a good size, nice and cosy and the staff couldn’t be more helpful. The food served in the Caribbean restaurant was absolutely top notch too. Great location, lovely hotel, lovely grub. Highly recommended.

On arrival was told the room was double booked by ***********. Load of rubbish, see previous reviews.The manager told us to try an alternative hotel, the receptionist at this hotel said it happens constantly , the Shakespeare accepts bookings then accepts a better price for the room & tells you it’s double booked. This is the manager I’m talking about. Save yourself the worry, book elsewhere. Not worth the risk!

I was greeted by the manager Joseph who was very helpful and welcoming. We were booked in very promptly and left to sort out our things. The room was spacious and packed with amenities for our convenience the bed was comfy. We had drinks at the bar in the evening and nothing was too much to ask the staff. Breakfast was laid out ready in the morning and was very nice. We had our evening meal at their Caribbean restaurant and it was amazing very well made and tasty. Service was 10/10. The only downside was parking however this is in no way the hotels fault due to location.

We stayed here for our wedding anniversary 30th September 2023 we was greeted at the door and the service we couldn’t fault at all 5* throughout the food in the restaurant was absolutely beautiful, we enjoyed it that much ordered seconds, Joseph and his team are so friendly and great hospitality. The most comfortable bed ever. Absolute dream. The manager was attentive and kind. We had a 'small double' which I thought would be too small for a couple but it was fine, we slept like logs. For a little town centre hotel, it's good. Location is fantastic for the Piece Hall, we were there for a gig and it was amazing to be walking distance from the hotel. View out the back of the hotel isn't that nice, view over the front is better. Other people had booking problems the weekend we were there, better to book direct, they do seem to have issues with the booking system. We booked a full English breakfast but they were only offering continental. The manager sorted us out with a full English breakfast which we really appreciated. Next time we will check out the Caribbean food, looks great.

Avoid at all costs!!! Avoid this place and dont book via **********, they double book the rooms then charge you again or send you away! We were charged 120 for a makeshift room next to the main door that had no facilities and a half glazed door that let all the light in from the hallway all night so had to use sheets to try and block the light out! And no, toast and rice crispys does not constitute a "continental breakfast!" Three others were turned away while we were there due to "double bookings!" So how do we get our money back that we paid originally for the room? I've no doubt they pocketed that too

Booked months ago only to be told when we arrived that there was no room. Was attending an event had had driven for hours. No other hotels in the are so ended up cutting short the event to drive home. We seen at least 4 other couples with the same experience, definitely double check once booked!

It got one star because they let use the loo and dealt with the booking agent for my refund. I’ve found at least 5 reviews with same experience as us - something he point blank denied. You book, you pay, you turn up there’s no room - he tried to blame the booking agent but there was another couple there who booked direct and had no room either. We had tickets for the Charlatans at the Piece Hall, as an event was in the rooms are obviously highly sought after - you decide what happened to the rooms we booked? We had paid for 24 hours parking not expecting there was no room at the inn.

A wobbly start as despite *********** saying parking available, there isn't. And a room change was needed this was all sorted out by Rick the brilliant manager an absolute star 🌟 A comfortable clean room in a great location, next to all the amenities Halifax has to offer 😊
