The Ri**o Tropical Hotel in Costa Rica is a hidden gem amid exuberant tropical nature. My experience at this hotel was absolutely fantastic and I can't wait to return. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted by friendly and attentive staff who gave me a warm welcome. I was pleasantly surprised by the design and decoration of the hotel. It is clear that much attention has been paid to detail to create a welcoming and relaxing a**osphere. The room I stayed in was spacious, comfortable, and spotlessly clean. It had all the amenities you could want, including a comfortable bed, and air conditioning. The hotel restaurant offers delicious local and international food. Every morning I enjoyed a delicious buffet breakfast with a wide selection of fresh and tasty dishes. In addition, the hotel pool is perfect for relaxing in the sun and enjoying a refreshing cocktail.

Demasiado bueno es la mejor opción! El dueño y el hijo me hicieron un par de favores cuando lo necesitaba lo cual les agradezco montones y fueron muy amables! El desayuno estaba rico y si vuelvo a la zona volvería a este hotel.

Nice little family-owned spot. A true 4-minute walk to the beach. Very basic rooms but well cared for. Pros: - Proximity to the beach and the main ***** - Family-owned - Large pool - Good, hearty breakfast - Drying rack for each room (nice touch when you have wet clothes all the time) Cons: - Millipedes in the room (probably unavoidable in the tropics, but it detracted from our enjoyment to have to kill 3-4 a day) - Outlets did not all work (fine for us, as we had enough for what we needed) - Linens were generally clean but low quality — towels flaked/pilled off on our skin Overall, great low-budget option if all you need is a clean place to sleep at the end of the day

Overall the hotel is nice. Good location, close to the town and beach. Rooms are clean and tidy and have everything you need. Free breakfast is good, but limited food options. The only thing letting the hotel down is the cleanliness of the pool. The pool water was cloudy and green and during our stay it got progressively worse, even after myself and other guests spoke to the manager/owner multiple times. The pool was one of the main reasons we booked this hotel so it was very frustrating not being able to use it.

Stayed 3 nights. Could not enjoy the pool as it was dirty and no explanation was provided. Most plugs in the room were not functional, mentioned it to owner on first night and at breakfast time the next morning and received a short extension cord in our last night. For a family run business, did not find it friendly and facility needs tender loving care which it seems owners don’t seem interested in investing to fix things up. Highlight is its location … close walk to the beach… don’t expect quick resolution to problems.
