Mango Mansion - International Hostel

The staff were super friendly, good atmosphere/vibe in the hostel, definitely a social hostel but not a 24/7 party hostel, overall, just very chill with the option to party/be social. The people that work/volunteer here were just amazing. When I arrived, Luke walked me through everything and was very thorough. In addition, he politely answered all of my questions and never made me feel foolish or less intelligent for not knowing. Throughout my stay, Luke would exhibit this same behavior with others and is just a high-quality person that you want to know. In addition, when I was checking in Virginia checked in a person just arriving shortly after me. She too was very thorough and polite. I found her to be cut from the same cloth as Luke, just an overall amazing human being. I enjoyed their conversation and company during my stay. However, they were busy ensuring that everything went smoothly for everyone, so it wasn’t like I was able to socialize with them all the time. They are not only polite and personable, but they are also very professional. Ale, was super cool as well. He had a lot of the social activities and trips organized. He did a great job with those, and everyone always came back happy. I did not talk with him as much, but I always enjoyed my conversations with him. The others were great as well, but unfortunately, I am not 100% on who was a volunteer and who was a guest. It is because it is a hostel, not a hotel, so guests do cleaning and other things to make sure everyone’s’ stay is better. They truly have a great group of people working there, which truly makes/breaks your stay (made mine and so many others wonderful). The hostel is in the perfect location. A 10-minute walk to the Condado beach, only a few blocks away from La Placita, and an 8-minute walk from SuperMax (a nice size grocery store). Part of their ability to have the hostel there is that they and their visitors are respectful to the neighbors. As a result, quiet hours are in effect from 11pm-8am. I think this was a good policy and they send out gentle reminders to make sure that everyone complies. This was not a problem during my stay, because people were usually going out between 10 and 11pm and just went to bed when we returned from the nightlife. The beds have outlets to charge your devices. The beds were very comfortable and seemed very sturdy. I’m a little over 6’ 2” and more than 200 pounds, so it was also nice to be on the bottom bunk. My fear is that I will fall off in my sleep, so my preference is always to be close to the ground. However, the beds looked sturdy enough to hold someone my size in the top bunk. There are no curtains on the bunk beds for privacy, but I felt like everyone was very respectful of each other’s personal space. However, this is always more dependent on the guests than the hostel, but I felt like the fellow guests were really good people as well. Stayed here for two nights, the place was OK but definitely not as it appears in the listings. I wrote them a negative Google review because they double charged me the deposit that Hostelworld charged me, and owner ended up contacting my personal cell no less than 10 times yesterday and texting me while I kept telling him to leave me alone. Today, I checked my credit card statement and noticed an extra $111 charge which was charged after I posted my review. I asked him why and he said “Bodily Fluid clean up plus tax from your vomit” I said that is ridiculous, he’s scamming me again and I will be filing chargebacks, and this was his response: “Stop Lying ang threatening.... you know the truth. It's just sad and pathetic. You were only charged for clean up, not the police call. Given the disturbance, we had an obligation to report you to other properties, so I suggest not book any further hostels in PR.” Because filing a false report is a criminal charge, I called the local police who spoke with him directly. Another lie sent by text from him: “We spoke with our local police officer, who dropped by because you apparently falsely reported an agressive disturbance. Please be advise false police reporting is a criminal offense.”

This was the best experience ❤️. Ale is a great manager, and Jessica & Ana are super helpful. It was great getting to stay with other tourists and make friends from all over! Puerto Rico was such a beautiful place and Mango Mansion made the experience even better. The friendly dogs and kitties that live on the property are a nice touch. Also having La Placita within walking distance is a huge perk!

THIS IS THE BEST HOSTEL IN PUERTORICO AND NOW IT TOPS MY HOSTEL EXPERIENCES AROUND THE WORLD. As soon as I checked in, I was welcomed so graciously by Annie and Virginia, they showed me the safe area to park my car since there was some local event nearby. I was touched by the gesture of spending their time to make sure that my car is safe. Then, once i checked in, Luckily there was best cream crowd from all across the world, and They right away hijacked me to La Placita area to party... Yes, this Hostel is Just 1 block away from one of the best Party locations in San Juan, and Alex (Ale) is literally the PuertoRico Wikipedia for Wonderful Places to visit, And more over the Day to Day Guide to all the Party locations. All the Mango Mansion hosts did take care of each hostel inmate as their family, little but of rules And also showed us So much Extra fun, great experience, Every day Hostel Outings, Events, Evening Gatherings, Beach tours etc etc, and no Wonder this hostel has won the Best Hostel Award consecutively. Thanks to Alex, Annie and Virgina for making me feel at home. (And Saving Breakfast for me whenever requested, with a sweet note). Also, Thanks to Nabila (Late Party Guide and fun company, hehe) and Deirdre for rejuvenating me every morning with Good Healthy breakfast (Its Free, yay). Overall, 12 nights at MM passed in the Blink of an Eye. Made lot of Good new connections all across the world during this stay. Such a welcoming and pleasant place to stay in Puerto Rico, Safe and In the Right place of the City. Highly recommend this Hostel, and definitely going back again to MM for my next Puerto Rico trip. The best hostel! Great hosts and you can meet a lot of cool people staying there. My sister and I are traveling around Puerto Rico for about two months and this was a perfect place to stay during our week in San Juan. There’s a lot to do in the city and the staff here can give great recommendations/bring you out to good spots
