Booked a one-night stay while in town visiting from NYC. The room smelled of cigarette smoke and the entire upstairs hallway had a strong smell of chemicals used to deodorize a carpet, akin to a headache-inducing air freshener. Asked for another room, but on ground floor to avoid smell. Walked down hallway where we again encountered strong odor which permeated the room. I asked for a room that did not have a smell and was offered the remaining two options, both of which had a stale, and offensive odor. I spoke with front desk manager, Amanda, who was not hospitable and said we would still be charged for the night despite the rooms being unacceptable. She offered to “clean” them but it wasn’t dirt, it was a strong, offensive smell that is not going to be removed without replacing the old, dank rugs. I was already starting to feel a headache between the stink and the manager. Called Marriott customer service to complain and at least they were apologetic. Would highly recommend avoiding this property. Not only the worst Marriott hotel I’ve ever encountered, but also lacking in customer service and hospitality skills.
