Nice hotel

There was no hot water and it sounds as though it’s an ongoing and known issue. This is just not an option and the excuse that they need a pump that circulates the water didn’t help. There was no offer of credit or refund. They simply said “sorry about that”. Which doesn’t fly with me. I will not stay there again and that’s a shame because it’s nice and it’s conveniently located. I think this old building is going to require on going repairs which will make it an unpleasant stay.

Besser ein snderes Hotel suchen. Das hotel sieht zwar gut aus, ist sauber und das bett bequem, nur an schlaf ist nicht zu denken. Die Heizung ist so alt, die Leitungen so alt, dass es ein lautes Grundsummen der Heizung existiert. Man kann auch nicht die temperatur regulieren, entweder sehr laut und heiss oder kalt. Wenn man die heizung ausstellt und hofft schlafen zu können, der muss sich aus rasselgeräusche und pfeifgeräusche aus den leitungen einstellen. Schade, wenn das hotel in eine komplett neue heizung inkl lüftung und rohre investieren würde wäre es ein tolles hotel an cooler lage!

The staff was friendly the hotel and the room was exceptionally clean. Very quiet considering the hotel is right on Whyte Avenue. Only downfall for me is parking is not included and valet parking is no longer available. They do offer secured parkade parking next door for $15+GST per day. The hotel is close to every amenity you could need and all within walking distance. Definitely recommend and definitely stayin again.

This is a character hotel that is aging but still quite comfortable. The location is loud (but manageable) on a Saturday night due to Whyte Ave - heads up. If the front desk had asked us for feedback at checkout, we would have commented that the door has to get closed with significant effort due to some kind of issue. Also—no hot water at all. The breakfast used to be complimentary - no longer. I have stayed here probably 8 or 9 times in the past 10 years —I am probably going to start looking elsewhere when I am in Edmonton.

Everything was great except, the smell of pot throughout the 6th floor. We have stayed here before on the 2nd floor and there was also the smell of pot. We won't be back here again. The skunky smell is nauseating. Guests of the hotel should smoke outside and not in their rooms.

It's very old and not up to date. Your paying for the location which makes sense. Dining options, night life, shops, are all seconds away. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms haven't changed since the 90s and there's no deck/patio. Rooms are quite small but the ac works well and is quiet.

Older historic hotel that has been maintained well. It is in the heart of the Whyte Ave area and offered a lot to do. I would absolutely stay here again for the location, hotel itself, and wonderful staff.

The Varscona Hotel is centrally located which makes it easy to get around Edmonton and get into St. Albert, Spruce Grove. There is nothing like being on Whyte Avenue and exploring all the shops and restaurants.
