Breakfast is fabulous fresh and eggs and croissants made perfect on the spot. Only thing is need more fruit no fruit. No gym ? Too cold to swim. Cosy room too small.

One expects a higher standard from this brand, with better staff service. The fabric and decor are very tired and the staff are broadly in helpful only doing the minimum to assist. HdV in Exeter gives off the air of not bothering, given that hotel choices in Exeter are so limited and poor.

I love the hotel du vin chain and was looking forward to our stay. Unfortunately the service just wasn’t up to its normal level. I took on board the need to book a parking space and dinner reservation way in advance. Did both. On arrival, there were lots of reserved signs against parking spaces but none for us. Went off to find a public car park. Walking back we found a sign with our name pushed against a wall and a new one in its place. We were refunded for the parking. Then that evening we booked a taxi for the next morning. The member of staff picked up the phone but clearly didn’t get through. And then served someone else. Sure enough in the morning, I checked and no taxi had been booked. It was a two hour wait for a cab! Or we could abandon our breakfast and jump in the cab they’d managed to find. Then there were little things, had to chase a glass of wine that never arrived after 15 mins. Other members of staff were amazing, particularly our waiter at dinner was very professional and very friendly. Room lovely. Food very good. But service really let it down and made our trip stressful. We had an appointment to keep and I though ordering a taxi the night before was covering all eventualities.

The paid parking situation is a complete joke. For 15 pounds per night you are required to get out in the Esin and place z as cone to keep your spot reserved as you go in and out of the space. On 4 nights out of five someone moved my cone and stole my spot. The hotel did nothing! This is the second time this has happened. I won’t be back. If I have to manage your parking lot then you should pay me 15 pounds per night.

We have a lovely stay at Hotel Du Vin Exeter. The hotel was beautiful and had a very tasteful design. We asked for early check in and got our key to our room quickly. The room was beautiful and very comfortable. As we were celebrating our anniversary we had beautiful swan towels on our bed. We loved the indoor/outdoor pool for a New Year's Day Dip!

Great place to stay, staff are absolutely fantastic, nothing too much trouble, always friendly and pleasant. I have stayed here a few times and the staff are simply the best i have encountered, thank you. The hotel is also great, clean and a little quirky, being a conversion rather than purpose built, makes it a bit more interesting. Great location, 5 minute stroll into the centre.

Great use of a historic building. Extremely well repurposed. Staff were very welcoming and helpful.

We have stayed at The Hotel Du Vin many times, we normally book the cosy double which is small but quite adequate for one or two nights, any longer than that and you would definitely need a more spacious room The staff are friendly and helpful and always willing to help. The hotel is conveniently location for shopping in the city and lovely walks down on the river. There is a small amount of parking at the hotel, which needs to be pre booked but there is a large car park literally a minutes walk away. We Will definitely be staying again.

Had coats stolen from car in the car park even though paid for 3 days parking on site. Staff excellent, friendly and attentive at all times.

This hotel lets the HOtel Du Vin chain down. It does not have the usual atmosphere as others and the bar ius ridiculous! The barman seemed too busy and at the dinner table he spilt our wine, pouring it as he also had a tray for others. The food was ok, and the bed was far too soft, along with the pillows, which meant for a bad nights sleep. I will stay in a Premiere Inn next time!

The hotel was excellent with great service from check in to check out. Room very comfortable and a delicious cooked breakfast to truly set you up for the day.

The heating in my room (108) didn't work (or I couldn't work out how to use it), but the bar lounge was really nice, and we were served particularly well by the breakfast bar lady and the barmen.
