布穀布勞旅館(The Cuckoo Brow Inn)

Having been staying in the small village all week we decided to book a table fir my brother in laws birthday. Booking was recomended as there is only a limited number of tables. This is a small hotel with guests probably dining as well evenings. The staff were very attentive and both the starters and mains were very good. My only comment was maybe the mains menu was a little restrictive and a bit more variety would have been nice. But not withstanding that everything was very tasty. All five of of us had different menus and be all enjoyed it. A nice touch upon the waiter knowing it was my brother in laws birthday bought out a lovely desert with a candle at the end of meal. That was delicious. So in summary very good evening good food that was priced around average for the area. We would return

Stop hear for a Coffee halfway through a circular walk from The National Trust car park near to Claife Viewing Station and Windermere ferry. We liked the look of the Garden and enjoyed our coffee so much that we returned after our 10k walk for Lunch . Staff very friendly the Fish finger sandwich “was to die for “. Not your ordinary fish fingers but huge freshly fried white fish in s light coated batter . It came with freshly made chips also . In fact it was more like having fish and chip lunch . Also good value for just over £9. Highly recommend this lovely pub . Would have been 5 star but being a smoker ( not for every one I know ) there were not Ashtrays available , even after asking the Bar person .

Having stayed here over 4 years ago(and had a lovely stay)we were staying in Hawkshead this time & called in on way past for a drink. My wife & I were extremely dissapointed to see how run down it now is & it has clearly changed hands.Down stairs in the games/snug toilet area it stinks of damp & mould,why anyone would want to sit down there would beyond me.We drank our drink & didn't want another the staff were uninterested & the chef was dirty & unkempt wouldn't like to think he was cooking my meal.I for one won't be calling again What a shame it has ended up like this.

Now on our forth stay at the Cuckoo, plus many great meals. Its in a perfect location and should be one of the jewels in the lake districts crown...However, hotel is now room only with option of a quite expensive breakfast, this makes for a quite expensive stay. This would be ok if the hotel was not so tired...the stables area should be shut with all the old, tired and dirty furniture shown away, this is not shabby chic, its just shabby. Bar was empty at 9.30 both on Friday and Saturday evenings..on previous visits it was packed with locals..this may also tell a story.. The tower bank arms in Near Sawrey was full.. the staff in the Cuckoo seemed reluctant to serve with more staff than bar customers. The management and owners need to take urgent action, a full deep clean would help the situation...I would hate to see the Cuckoo become another boarded up pub

We stayed here for a night because we have a historical family link; my great grandfather Thomas Perry was the first landlord of this hotel in 1841. Without exception the staff were welcoming and friendly. The room was very clean and the king sized bed was very comfortable. The dinner we had in the dining room was beautifully cooked. And what a beautiful area Far Sawrey is! Ideal for walking. All in all our stay at Cuckoo Brow was very enjoyable and we would highly recommend it.j

Stopped to have lunch. Excellent menu with a good choice. Had pulled pork spring roll to start with cajun sauce, yummy. Then had the gammon, again really nice. Service excellent and really friendly. Good luck on your new adventure, we will definitely be back.

My family (my parents, my partner and baby and I) stayed at Cuckoo Brow for two nights and we truly had such a brilliant stay. The new management did everything they possibly could to ensure we had a comfortable stay. They were incredibly thoughtful and professional (remembering our food and drink preferences, my sons allergies etc). The menu was brand new and throughout the course of our stay we tried almost all meals on the menu - each was delicious and very generous. The rooms we had are clean and tidy - nice big bathrooms! Cuckoo Brow is full of character and charm. Cudos to the new management for making it a special place to be.

We stayed in a cottage a short stroll from the Cuckoo and visited regularly for both food and drinks and weren’t disappointed on any visit. Food was excellent with a good menu choice and plenary of choice in drinks, good spot for a coffee and some cake as well.

We stayed for two night. I was told breakfast was included & then told it wasn't on check out & I had to pay £90! First day breakfast was good but next day it was terrible. Also I paid advance for my stay & asked to pay again on check!! I showed my payment on PayPal & it was resolved by contacting ********** about my payment. This second time we stayed at this place & probably the last time because of this experience!!
