We stayed on New Year’s eve and were so disappointed. Firstly there was no heating in the bedroom when we arrived shortly before 5pm. The bedroom had wooden floors and it felt like there hadn’t been heat on in a few days. The central part of the hotel was lovely and toasty but as soon as we went into the corridor leading to the bedrooms - it was so so cold. We had been in Glenveagh all day and had gotten wet on the way back to the car. We were really looking forward to a hot shower and a warm room. To make matters worse, there was no hot water either. When we mentioned this to reception staff, they put the radiators on immediately- the heating controls are obviously controlled by reception. The room started to heat but we were still freezing. We went down to the bar for a meal at 6pm thinking the room will be warm when we came up again and we could have a nice shower before heading out to meet friends. When we came back to the room shortly after 7pm, the radiators were stone cold again and the room was freezing. We went to reception again, we were told there was a problem with the supply but as soon as we complained, the heating came on immediately!!!!! There was no hot water though and we had to go out for the evening without showering. In the morning, there was still no hot water and we had to leave your hotel without having a shower. On checkout, the person before me had exactly the same complaint and 50 euro was deducted from their bill. I mentioned all of this to the young girl when we checked out but as we had pre-payed, there was nothing she could do. I told her that we really had a miserable stay, all she could do was apologise. We left very very disappointed and really feel that we could have got better value elsewhere. The bar food was just ok too!! On the plus side, the waiting/bar staff were super. All in all, such a miserable way to begin 2024.
